Political Science is one of the most popular majors for students interested in law school. Baylor's Department of Political Science offers a pre-law track for political science majors. We offer a range of courses that deal with many of the most important issues that lawyers and jurists confront in their careers, from criminal justice, constitutional law, public policy and the courts and international law. Students from any discipline may also choose to pursue a minor in Criminal Justice.

The Environmental Science major combines laboratory and field work, internships and classroom study. This program is for students interested in a variety of fields including water resources and air quality, wildlife management and biodiversity conservation, and environmental toxicology and chemistry. The Environmental Studies major explores the interactions between human societies and the environment. The coursework investigates a variety of systems is the study of human interaction with the environment. The coursework discusses a variety of systems - political, economic and ecological - and their connections with the environment. The Environmental Studies major is offered with concentrations in either Environment and Society or Natural Resources Management. Students are encouraged to take part in internships and research opportunities with faculty. Graduates are well prepared for positions in environment consulting firms and regulatory agencies. Other graduates pursue postbaccalaureate study in law, environmental planning and natural resources management.

Music Theory
The Theory major in the School of Music is for students who wish to concentrate their study on the theory of music. Students will conduct research under mentors, faculty members who are active in academic discourse on the national and international level.  Areas of study include:

Geology
Geology is the science that deals with the Earth's physical structure and substance, its history and the processes that act on it. The Geology major focuses on a wide variety of topics that include materials of the Earth (minerals and rocks) and processes that affect them, as well as the evolution of life and its relationship to Earth materials and processes. These processes can include the formation of rocks, mountains and volcanoes, wind and water.Geologists utilize chemistry, biology and physics to investigate environmental issues, hydrocarbon accumulations, natural hazards, water quality and availability, ores and valuable minerals and natural disasters. Exercise physiology is an applied science studying the body’s metabolic responses to acute and chronic physical activity. The program offers students a professional field experience and general division electives in the areas of strength and conditioning, nutrition, pre-PT, pre-Medical, business, and clinicals. Exercise Physiology prepares students for a number of career opportunities related to the wellness consciousness of the general population. Available courses include:

• Biomechanics

Students must complete one semester of a supervised internship. Students are assigned to a variety of positions including sports practices, games and surgeries. Positions also include general medical rotation and an off-campus rotation at a high school or sports medicine clinic. These assignments give the students an opportunity apply learned techniques in the field.

International Business is a second major and must be combined with another business major.  The major applies the basics taught within the general business school, but in the framework of a global setting. Coursework prepares students for positions of leadership in a dynamic environment of global production, exchange, information and finance. Available courses include:

Anthropology
As a discipline, anthropology studies human diversity across time and space, attempting to understand the human past, present, and future using tools and techniques from various sub-fields like biological anthropology, archaeology, and sociocultural anthropology. It utilizes a comparative approach between people/populations and among different species to understand the forces that have shaped their ways of life.

We aim to educate students to address real-world problems through a combination of classroom learning, seminars and hands-on field and laboratory research opportunities. This can include, for example, examining fossil casts or modern human bones, studying at the zoo or in villages in developing countries, and digging for artifacts in the fields or just facts in the library.Our faculty pursues research in disease diagnostics and other biomarkers, Global and One Health, ecological anthropology, forensic anthropology, fossil excavation, modern Mayan cultures, DNA analyses, GIS, and both historic and prehistoric archaeology. Research sites include Central and Latin America, the Caribbean, West, East, and South Africa, near Eastern Mediterranean, and Texas. All of these projects offer excellent opportunities for students to participate in primary research working alongside their professors.

English majors focus on analyzing and interpreting a variety of literature like novels, short stories, essays, poetry and other works of creative writing. The coursework includes a variety of studies including history, politics, arts and culture.
