Education - Middle Grade Mathematics
The Middle Grades Education Program is ideal for students who are eager to work with growing minds and daily changes. When teaching middle grades students, who are discovering who they are and what they want to do with their lives, there is rarely a dull moment in the classroom. The program prepares highly qualified teachers that will earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with a specific subject in 4-8 certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language.

The Choral Music major in the Bachelor of Music Education degree program is designed for students interested in teaching choral music or elementary general music in public schools. This degree leads to Texas teacher certification. Areas of study include:

Journalism
The Department of Journalism, Public Relations and New Media educates students in writing, editing, photography and public relations for written and graphic communication. There are three sequences (tracks) available. Each sequence maintains the same required Journalism Core and highlights different areas within the field of journalism.

The News-Editorial sequence focuses on developing reporting, writing and editing skills. The Public Relations sequence emphasizes the importance of branding and public image. The New Media sequence includes both advertising skills (copywriting, research design and media planning) and photojournalism that focuses more on the visual components of journalism. The Apparel Merchandising program focuses on developing professional skills, such as communication, analytical thinking, teamwork and ethical behavior. These skills help sustain graduates as they apply management and marketing theory and business principles to the global fashion industry. Courses include:

• Visual Merchandising and Promotion
• Fashion Forecasting
• Digital Retailing

Apparel Design and Product Development
The Apparel Design & Product Development curriculum develops students into professionals that will be successful in both the domestic and international marketplace. Fashion design is the development of apparel, textile and consumer products that meet the needs of specific consumer markets. Students develop an understanding of these needs through the study of consumer behavior, demographics and psychographics. Apparel Design courses are both creative and high technical. The Secondary Education program prepares students to work in grades 7-12. Graduates of the Secondary Education program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with certification in one subject area (listed below). Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language.

Public Health educators work in a variety of work settings including nonprofit community health organizations, public health agencies, work site and health promotion programs and schools and voluntary health agencies (American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, etc).  Available courses include:

Public health educators are employed under a variety of job titles. Some examples include a health educator, health promotion specialist, public or clinical health educator, health information specialist, program director, outreach coordinator, patient or treatment adherence educator, health program manager, community organizer and health intervention specialist.

Economics
The Economics major is offered in three different degree programs, as a Bachelor of Business Administration (designated as a pre-major), a Bachelor of Arts (BA), or a Bachelor of Science (BS). Each degree program is a slightly different variation of the core curriculum based on the degree requirement differences between the College of Arts and Sciences and the Business School. Choosing an Economics major in the Business School (BBA) provides the opportunity to take classes targeted toward four different career positions: consultant, public agency analyst, international economist or corporate business economist. Other possibilities for students graduating with an Economics degree include taking a position as a product risk analyst or risk and control advisor. A Bachelor of Arts in Economics is ideal for students wishing to attend graduate or law school while the Bachelor of Science in Economics is ideal for those wishing to work in the medical or scientific field.
