The Church Music program at Baylor University is designed for students desiring to take their passion for music and utilize it in a church setting. The Church Music major is available in the Bachelor of Music (BM) degree or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.   • Church Choral and Solo Literature

All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition before members of the appropriate applied music faculty for acceptance into a music degree program. Students may pursue either a BM or BA in Church Music.
The Church Music major in the Bachelor of Music (BM) program at Baylor allows students to concentrate on one of three different emphases depending on their primary instrument: keyboard, instrumental or voice. The Bachelor of Arts program is designed in the liberal arts tradition and is a good fit for students who want a church music degree and who want to take additional courses outside of their major course of study.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Economics

The Economics major is offered in three different degree programs, as a Bachelor of Business Administration (designated as a pre-major), a Bachelor of Arts (BA), or a Bachelor of Science (BS). Each degree program is a slightly different variation of the core curriculum based on the degree requirement differences between the College of Arts and Sciences and the Business School. Available courses include:

Choosing an Economics major in the Business School (BBA) provides the opportunity to take classes targeted toward four different career positions: consultant, public agency analyst, international economist or corporate business economist. A Bachelor of Arts in Economics is ideal for students wishing to attend graduate or law school while the Bachelor of Science in Economics is ideal for those wishing to work in the medical or scientific field.

The Composition major trains students to be composers and versatile musicians. It is designed to help young composers develop/find their style/voice and compose out of educated intentionality. Computer Science
The department of Computer Science offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) as well as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in computer science. One of the strengths of the computer science program is the balance between theory and practice.
