As a UX Design major, you will learn how to analyze and evaluate existing computer interfaces as well as how to improve the design and development of interfaces for a better user experience. A major in UX Design will teach you to combine design’s technical methods with artistic principles, preparing you for a career in interactive web development.

The User Experience Design program offers concentrations in design and development. The design concentration emphasizes coursework in interaction design as well as strategies for incorporating social computing into websites and mobile applications. The development concentration emphasizes coursework in information technology and interactive scripting.

In DePaul’s Master of Science (MS) in Economics and Policy Analysis, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge of economic theory and advanced skills in data analysis that position you to examine economic and business policies. The research-driven curriculum prepares you to be a hands-on economic analyst.

Interested students participate in 12- to 16-week fellowships at private companies, a government agency, public policy institute, or nonprofit in Chicago, Washington D.C., or another city.

The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

The Master of Music in composition program offers students one-on-one instruction with DePaul's distinguished faculty of active composers as well as many seminars with guest composers and performers from Chicago and across the country. Graduate composition majors have their compositions performed during DePaul Composers Forum, a quarterly student composition concert, and submit works to be read and possibly performed by Ensemble 20+, DePaul Wind Ensemble, University Singers or the DePaul Chamber Orchestra. DePaul also offers two assistantships to graduate composition students.

Through our master’s in Business Analytics program, you’ll gain the necessary techniques to turn complex data into solutions that drive business decisions for a wide range of industries. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to specialize in growth industries and occupations including:

Computational Methods
All required courses are available online. The Computational Methods concentration is designed for data science master’s students who want to develop strong technical and programming skills for big data analytics. You’ll be trained to handle and aggregate massive amounts of data and to use appropriate modeling and data mining techniques to extract information from complex data sources.

Gain an understanding of the history of philosophy, philosophical issues regarding law, medicine and business, as well as the basic problems posed by diverse thinkers. You will also develop analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills while analyzing both the humanistic and technical features of philosophy.

Regardless of your career goals, a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy will provide you with excellent tools and skills in critical thinking, analyzing content from various perspectives, and verbal and written communication. You will learn to form arguments and take a position on an issue.

The Japanese Studies program focuses on Japanese language, literature and culture. More than 130 million people speak Japanese across the world. You will explore Japanese culture and society through an interdisciplinary approach.

Fluency in Japanese and an understanding of Japanese culture will prepare you for professional success in for a variety of careers, such as business, arts, diplomacy, media and education.

As a Japanese major, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in DePaul’s Study Abroad programs in programs in Kyoto, Nagoya or Osaka, where you’ll strengthen your linguistic skills and become immersed in Japanese culture.
