Arabic language, literature and culture are more important than ever on the global stage. DePaul’s flexible master’s in Arabic provides a customizable curriculum to help you develop advanced linguistic and cultural expertise.

Study communication in the context of popular culture, the corporate world, interpersonal relationships and new media with a master’s degree in Communication and Media. Develop diverse areas of interest while focusing on a specific content area with an optional concentration in Interpersonal Communication, Media and Cinema Studies, Multicultural Communication or Organizational Communication. You’ll master the tools and frameworks to critically examine and resolve real-life communication issues.

Media and Cinema Studies
The Media and Cinema Studies concentration focuses on the critical skills, historical grounding, and research methodologies for understanding the cultural and social impact of film, television and digital media in our globalized society.

Our graduate seminar classes investigate current media-related topics through interdisciplinary perspectives including national and transnational media, film and media histories. The impact and potential of new technologies, the power of audiovisual media in society, the role of media in the formation of identities, aesthetics and popular culture, are also examined.

The tools and methods of Applied Mathematics are in demand wherever quantitative analysis is used for strategic decision-making. The MS in Applied Mathematics gives you the expertise you need to use those tools and methods in business, industry or government.

Actuarial Science Concentration
The Actuarial Science concentration? caters to career changers as well as students who would like to further their actuarial training. It condenses a comprehensive actuarial curriculum into just two years, with an emphasis on the theory and problem-solving skills that are key to passing actuarial exams, and the computational methods that are sought after in the job market. Most of our graduates get internships and full-time jobs as actuarial analysts in insurance companies and consulting firms.

As a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor Science (BS) in Biological Sciences major, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in a wide range of careers in science, research, education, health and other fields.

Inside and outside the classroom, you’ll learn to think independently and work collaboratively. Here, most faculty members direct their own research programs, giving you an opportunity to work on multiple research projects. Biological Sciences majors are encouraged to attend seminars and complete internships.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in education, the Department of Biological Sciences also partners with the College of Education to award teaching degrees.

The B.S. in Biological Sciences major offers you a structured curriculum, with more of an emphasis on science- and math-focused courses. As you gain a strong foundation of knowledge in biological science theories and practices, you'll choose one of the following concentrations:

In DePaul’s Master of Science (MS) in Economics and Policy Analysis, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge of economic theory and advanced skills in data analysis that position you to examine economic and business policies. The research-driven curriculum prepares you to be a hands-on economic analyst.

Interested students participate in 12- to 16-week fellowships at private companies, a government agency, public policy institute, or nonprofit in Chicago, Washington D.C., or another city.

The Master of Science in Real Estate equips you with the skills necessary to help you launch your career in real estate investment analysis and finance. Whether you’re a career changer or you already work in the industry and want to deepen your skills, the MS in Real Estate gives you a strong foundation for real estate industry leadership by immersing you in real-world projects with real Chicago companies.

As a Latin American and Latino Studies major, you’ll explore the cultural contributions of Latin Americans to the global community and the perspectives and traditions that have developed in the region.

Examine the multicultural relationship between peoples and cultures of Latin America, including indigenous, European, Semitic, Arab, Asian and African societies, and explore the profound linkage that has emerged between Latin America and the United States, particularly through the construction of Latino communities in the U.S.

Participate in one of DePaul’s Study Abroad programs in Nogales, Mexico; Mérida, Mexico; El Salvador; Chile or Argentina.

With a master’s in Health Communication, you’ll bring clarity and understanding to complex, critical health care issues for consumers, providers and organizations. You’ll apply communication theory, research and practice to the specific needs of the health care industry.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
