Our interdisciplinary studies master’s degree programs emphasize liberal studies education and enhance your intellectual skills. You’ll design your own program, which will allow you to study multiple academic disciplines, including traditional humanities, social sciences, education, business, computing and digital media.

DePaul’s Neuroscience bachelor’s degree program is an interdisciplinary program that draws from the natural, behavioral and computational science fields.

In the program, you’ll learn:

• How the nervous system produces behavior and cognition

Applied and Computational Mathematics Concentration
The Applied and Computational Mathematics concentration is intended for students seeking a career as quantitative analysts, computational scientists, or applied mathematicians, or for those planning to continue the study of applied mathematics at the doctoral level. Students pursuing this concentration are exposed to a variety of mathematical methods, models, and computational tools that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry.

The MFA in Game Design is for creative visionaries intent on producing socially, culturally, and emotionally substantial work. The degree prepares students to advance the frontier of games by exploring emerging theories and applying them to practice. The games students create throughout their degree will be challenged by peers and faculty in critiques. Graduates of the program will be equipped to define and realize their authentic, thriving professional lives. An MFA is also a terminal degree that opens opportunities to teach at the university level and enter an academic tenure-track career.

As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

The master’s in Digital Communication and Media Arts (DCMA) will give you the technical skills and tools to effectively navigate the digital communication landscape. This flexible program allows you to tailor your coursework across interests such as branding, content strategy, social media, data-driven marketing, media literacy, documentary production and design.

This interdisciplinary degree program is offered through the College of Communication and the College of Computing and Digital Media; you’ll take courses in Public Relations and Advertising, Journalism, Media and Cinema Studies, and Digital Communication.

The Master of Science in Game Programming is designed for those interested in game development programming at the highest level, including real time computing, computer graphics, and professional retooling for the game industry. Students will learn about software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, animation, software architecture, and networking. The game programming degree addresses the real-world needs of industry through special, topic-based classes. Courses are taught with a mixture of theory and applied practice. Covering both emerging trends and proven knowledge, the program's content is always relevant and current. This combination of approaches allows students to understand the connection between realized applied systems and issues they'll likely face professionally in years to come.

The History of Art and Architecture program focuses on the diverse visual traditions of different societies around the world. You will develop visual literacy by critically thinking about how art and architecture affect individuals and societies.

As an art history major, you’ll enhance your persuasive writing, research and oral communication skills and take advantage of Chicago’s extensive cultural resources. As you earn your art history degree, you’ll enrich your classroom experience though site visits to exhibits, museums, urban landscapes and architectural monuments around the city.

The master's in Experience Design is an interdisciplinary program that prepares future experience designers by providing a foundation in design methods, research, and collaboration. Students learn to apply theoretical frameworks and research methods to understand systems, define problems, and communicate potential solutions and their impact. By working on collaborative projects with local communities, students learn to create design-based artifacts tied to human-centered problems in a chosen disciplinary area (e.g., web/mobile design, game design, learning design).
