The MFA in Game Design is for creative visionaries intent on producing socially, culturally, and emotionally substantial work. The master's in Software Engineering provides students with skills that are widely applicable, highly in demand, and richly rewarded. Software engineering is a discipline concerned with the processes, methodologies, techniques, and tools of developing high-quality software systems in a cost-effective manner. The Software Engineering program emphasizes the best software engineering practices, current methodologies, emerging technologies, and their applications in various industries. It also emphasizes the development of communication and presentation skills in a team-based software development environment. The curriculum encompasses all important aspects of software engineering, including: requirements engineering, software architecture and design, software construction, software testing and quality assurance, software maintenance, and software project management.

Software Development
This concentration addresses the foundations, methodologies, and tools for developing high quality large-scale software systems, with an emphasis on the technical issues of software development. Students in this concentration will gain technical expertise and experiences to become competent and successful members of software development teams in a wide range of development environments and application domains.

The graduate music education program offers certified/licensed music teachers the opportunity to earn a master's degree in a little over two years with courses in the evenings and summers. Educational theory and practice merge throughout course work, and students have the flexibility to select elective areas of study. The program culminates with a final paper or project, allowing students to research an area of special interest.

Entrepreneurship and Technology Leadership
This concentration offers students with strong background in software development and a keen interest in business the opportunity to become entrepreneurs or business leaders in the software development industry. This concentration addresses the foundations and methodologies of software development combined with knowledge of business environment and finance to prepare for career paths in entrepreneurship or senior technology leadership positions in businesses.

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

The criminology program will prepare you to study the frequency, location and causes of crime. You’ll learn how to collect data, analyze your findings and present policy recommendations. A Bachelor of Arts in criminology will provide you with the analytical, research and organizational skills needed to improve the criminal legal system for both victims and offenders.

You will learn the processes and institutions of the criminal legal system. Explore how law enforcement, courts, corrections and community organizations address crime in society. Through program coursework, you will examine structural challenges, behavior patterns and criminal trends.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
