Overview
DePaul’s B.S. in Computer Science program provides essential training in the foundations of computing, data storage and information processing.
As a Computer Science major, you’ll develop a keen understanding of modern computer systems and master your programming and software development skills. You will learn about robotics, computer vision, intelligent systems and gaming, data mining and mobile systems.
The College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) is located on the Loop Campus, in the heart of Chicago’s technology and business districts, providing you many opportunities to work professionally with leading companies in information systems. Many CDM faculty members are working professionals and industry consultants, allowing you to learn firsthand from thought leaders and change-makers.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Develop the skills to assess the environmental impacts of organizational decisions in DePaul’s MS in Sustainable Management program. You’ll learn how to develop and implement sustainable strategies for managing human, financial and natural resources in today’s marketplace.

Master of Arts in Animation - Traditional Animation
The MA in Animation degree provides a combination of artistic and technical training that prepares students for a future in 3D character animation, traditional animation, computer game art, or visual effects.
Traditional Animation
The Traditional Animator Concentration is for students who are interested in deepening their knowledge of traditional animation, including hand-drawn, stop motion, and hybrid methods, with an eye towards a production career in animation. Students in this concentration will train in the history, critical artistic issues, and fundamental principles that are necessary for animation artists. MA in Animation graduates will be prepared for many varied career options available to animators, including storyboard artists, visual development artists, layout artists, character animators, and commercial animators.

Master of Science in Information Systems
The MS in Information Systems (IS) bridges the gap between business and IT. Business organizations are most interested in serving customers with the best products and services. IT is a fast-moving area with many kinds of technologies, tools, and systems. Our MS-IS program emphasizes understanding of diverse technology trends, agile project management, digital transformation, analytics systems, and innovation with six major elective domains. As a Journalism major at DePaul, you will develop a skill set that prepares you for a career as a multimedia content producer and video storyteller. Because the Journalism field is constantly evolving with the use of new technology, you will learn about industry trends and how to use professional equipment, software and online tools.
Students earning their degree in journalism at DePaul have access to the green screen studio, control room, editing suites and the digital equipment facility. Student journalists also staff our award-winning student media outlets: The DePaulia newspaper, 14 East Magazine, Radio DePaul and the Good Day DePaul news show.

Master of Science Cybersecurity - Governance, Risk Management and Compliance
The MS in Cybersecurity is intended for students who wish to specialize in the security aspects of the Information Technology field. This program educates professionals for the fast growing and wide ranging information security and cybersecurity markets by providing foundations in the theory of information security as well as knowledge needed to properly design, implement, and manage secured IT infrastructure and risks in an enterprise. Common career areas include Computer Forensics, Incident Response, Network Security Administration, Risk Assessment, and Web Development.
Governance, Risk Management and Compliance
This concentration focuses on enterprise-level information security risk management, IT audit, and regulatory compliance. Using a cross-disciplinary approach, focus is put on how to develop an information security program; assess security risk in business processes; identify and implement a system of controls for security governance and regulatory compliance; plan and conduct IT audits; and develop business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Bachelor of Science in Finance
DePaul’s undergraduate Finance degree will provide you with a solid foundation in financial management and an understanding of public and private financial processes, financial markets, analysis and investments.
Core curriculum focuses on banking and financial services, investment analysis/management, corporate finance management, risk management and qualitative reasoning. Our faculty of scholars and experienced professionals emphasize real-world learning. You’ll also benefit from facilities, such as the Finance Lab virtual trading room, as well as centers in behavioral finance, risk management and financial services, which connect you and our faculty to the finance industry.
If you’re interested in the Finance Honors Program, you may apply during your junior year and, if admitted, will begin honors courses in spring quarter of your junior year.
