The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

Study communication in the context of popular culture, the corporate world, interpersonal relationships and new media with a master’s degree in Communication and Media. Develop diverse areas of interest while focusing on a specific content area with an optional concentration in Interpersonal Communication, Media and Cinema Studies, Multicultural Communication or Organizational Communication. You’ll master the tools and frameworks to critically examine and resolve real-life communication issues.

Organizational Communication
The Organizational Communication concentration focuses on communication challenges specific to business and organizational settings. It helps students to understand and manage the broad communication processes within organizations while enabling them to develop their individual skills as communicators.

This concentration will be of interest to professionals in corporate and nonprofit settings, particularly those who manage employees or have responsibilities for personnel issues.

MS in Chemistry prepares you for advanced work in chemistry and biochemistry, and for further graduate study. Through either a thesis or non-thesis degree option, you’ll learn the theory and ethical practice of Chemistry within the scientific method and gain context for appreciating the history of Chemistry in society.

The Chinese Studies program focuses on developing your ability to speak Mandarin Chinese and understand Chinese society and culture. DePaul's master's program in Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse is Chicago's only graduate program to focus solely on writing, rhetoric, pedagogy, and language. Students build a solid theoretical foundation in rhetoric and discourse, and pair it with hands-on practical training; faculty in the program seek to make you a better writer and teach you exciting new approaches to the history, craft, politics, and practical applications of writing and content. DePaul’s Game Design degree program teaches the fundamentals and details of game design, and prepares you to work in computer gaming and interactive media fields as storytellers, critical thinkers, entrepreneurs and leaders in the field of gaming.

Throughout the Game Design program, you’ll collaborate on interdisciplinary teams with programmers, artists, writers and audio designers.

You’ll learn about the entire game development cycle, from ideation to documentation, prototyping, implementation, iteration and testing.

The Women’s and Gender Studies degree program focuses on examining women’s and men’s identities and experiences in relation to gender, race, class and culture. Its curriculum addresses issues of power and resistance and connects feminist theories and research to public policy and social justice.

Classes focus on feminist and social justice theory with an emphasis on agency, social responsibility, advocacy and activism. You’ll develop strong writing and critical thinking skills and learn to make connections between theory and real-world practice.
