As a Communication and Technology major, you’ll learn to live and work in the modern digital environment. You’ll be given a foundation of theoretical knowledge, critical analysis and ethical awareness of how processes of communication affect and are affected by technology.

Communication and Technology majors will take courses that provide you with interdisciplinary knowledge, experiences, and practical skills that link technology and communication.

Through DePaul’s Data Science program, you’ll develop a deep understanding of computer science, mathematics and information management — the three primary components of the data science profession.

As you work towards your B.S. in Data Science, program coursework will teach you:

• Mathematical foundations in data analysis
• Technical skills for data processing and application development
• Advanced machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
• Analytical and communication skills to explain results in a meaningful way

You’ll take a common core of courses in computer science, programming, mathematics and software during your first two years, after which you will select data science courses with a more narrow focus based on your interests.

DePaul's Master’s in Artificial Intelligence will prepare you for a successful career in this fast-growing field. You will gain advanced technical skills and a deep understanding of concepts and techniques in artificial intelligence and machine learning to build and support AI empowered systems. Discover how to create complex intelligent systems and integrate AI techniques into existing applications and processes, by exploring relevant technical areas including natural language processing, big data systems, computer vision, image processing, robotics, and cybersecurity.

Our Actuarial Science degree program will prepare you to analyze and help organizations manage the financial consequences of risk and uncertainty. You’ll learn to interpret stat?istics to determine probabilities of accidents, sickness, death and/or the loss of property from theft, cybercrime, natural disasters and other phenomena. Graduates will be equipped with the skills necessary to sit for actuary certification exams.

In the program, you’ll use mathematics, statistics and financial theory to study uncertain future events, especially those concerning risk management and insurance. As you work toward your Actuarial Science degree, you’ll also learn to apply the laws of probability and statistics to problems, and calculate the financial costs and benefits of insurance for various individuals. Conferences and networking opportunities hosted by DePaul’s Arditti Center for Risk Management provide you with opportunities to explore real-world risk management issues and make industry contacts.

In the Master of Marketing Analysis program, you’ll take a quantitative approach to real-world marketing challenges in preparation for a career in business and marketing analytics, market research, interactive marketing, or other data-driven marketing roles. You’ll develop strong foundational knowledge in

• Customer and market analysis
• Detecting trends and business opportunities
• The latest marketing analytics tools
• Decision-making strategies
• Crafting marketing strategies based on data collection and interpretation

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

The Theatre School’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in directing is a high octane three-year program that gives artistically ambitious directors a challenging training ground to develop and explore their artistic vision. Two students are selected to enter the program each year. All MFA Directing students are guaranteed a scholarship, which is renewable all three years.

Our curriculum focuses on marrying skill and imagination with both small seminar and active practicum courses dedicated to expanding our students' directorial toolboxes and inciting their artistry. Our production program challenges student directors to conceive, pitch, design, cast, and rehearse five fully produced projects over three seasons as resident directors in our state-of-the-art facilities.

Our distinguished faculty of working artists provide real world instruction and a direct pipeline to the field. Situated just a short walk or El ride away from some of its most storied theatres, The Theatre School shares a revolving door with the city of Chicago - one of the nation's most vibrant theatre scenes. The artists, leaders, productions, and theatres that our MFA directors come into contact with inspire them while they are in school and launch them when they graduate.

Learn how to think creatively, implement successful growth strategies and generate new business ideas with DePaul’s MBA in Entrepreneurship. Our nationally ranked entrepreneurship MBA program will teach you to build your own business as well as manage innovative processes in established firms.

Participate in entrepreneurship workshops and new-venture competitions. This is DePaul’s version of “Shark Tank,” designed to challenge you as rigorously as the real world does.

Our sociology degree program will help you develop the critical thinking skills needed to effectively observe sociological topics and become equipped to conduct sociological research.

As you work toward your Sociology degree, you’ll take advantage of exploring Chicago—a laboratory for research and observation with its ethnic communities, economic development and urban issues, giving you the opportunity to access Chicago’s rich and diverse culture through service opportunities, field experience and internships.

We offer combined bachelor’s + master’s degree programs including a combined bachelor’s in Sociology and a master’s in Secondary Education Social Sciences degree. These programs allow you to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) will prepare you for a leadership position within the public sector. You’ll develop the critical management skills you’ll need to succeed in your public service career, including:

Metropolitan and Urban Affairs Concentration
This concentration is for students wanting to work in land use, transportation, economic development, zoning, housing, and other areas of community development. Coursework emphasizes the technical skills of public administration and the tools of analyses and development as applied in a broad public setting. Students study best practices to illustrate the effectiveness of alternative designs and models.
