Data Science Concentration
The Data Science concentration is designed to provide students with computational techniques used by statistical researchers and practitioners beyond standard statistical software packages. Students are a rigorous training in mathematical statistics, applied statistics, statistical computing, and data structure. They are also exposed to various applications of current interest. The program prepares students to apply the latest statistical methods, data analytics, data mining, and machine learning to real-world data sets.

Our writing and rhetoric program is dedicated to writing degree students who will study literate activity across time and culture, and produce effective writing in contemporary settings—from the personal to the professional.

As a Health Sciences major, you’ll choose one of two concentrations. The Bioscience - Accelerated Program is for qualified Health Sciences majors in the BioScience concentration who have been accepted into an accelerated 3+ College of Science and Health pre-professional program in conjunction with Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS). The Public Health Sciences concentration focuses on understanding the health care needs of populations, preparing you for a career in community health, health care administration, health communication and public health.

As you work towards your B.S. in Data Science, program coursework will teach you:

You’ll take a common core of courses in computer science, programming, mathematics and software during your first two years, after which you will select data science courses with a more narrow focus based on your interests.

The Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) prepares students to ideate, design, implement, and evaluate computer-based technologies so they are useful and usable for end users. This interdisciplinary degree integrates concepts and methods from computer science, graphic design and the social sciences. Drawing upon these concepts and methods, students learn user-centered and participatory design approaches as they create information and communication technologies (ICTs) such as dynamic web sites, mobile apps and desktop applications. Particular emphasis is given to ICT evaluation, exploratory user research, information architecture, interaction design, and prototype development.
