In the public policy program you’ll learn the foundations of basic policy theory and research methods. As a public policy major, you’ll also examine how public policy is formulated, implemented, and evaluated over time, while you explore notions of agenda-setting and framing of issues that lead to a problem gaining the attention of the government.

Public Policy majors take courses dealing with public policy theories, processes, methods of public policy analysis, and important environmental and urban policy issues. Under the guidance of a public policy professor, you’ll choose a public policy problem to analyze in-depth for your capstone course.

The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

The Master of Science in Game Programming is designed for those interested in game development programming at the highest level, including real time computing, computer graphics, and professional retooling for the game industry. Students will learn about software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, animation, software architecture, and networking. The game programming degree addresses the real-world needs of industry through special, topic-based classes. Courses are taught with a mixture of theory and applied practice. Covering both emerging trends and proven knowledge, the program's content is always relevant and current. This combination of approaches allows students to understand the connection between realized applied systems and issues they'll likely face professionally in years to come.

The MA in Biological Sciences prepares you to communicate your knowledge of life and living systems to others. Graduates of the MA typically plan to pursue advanced education degrees or teaching positions. With a Biological Sciences MA, you will

Classes take place on the Lincoln Park Campus and are typically held in the daytime.

DePaul’s Early Childhood Education program will prepare you to teach and engage infants through second-graders in a variety of urban and suburban education settings. Early childhood educators teach in public and private preschools, elementary schools and child care centers.

As part of your Early Childhood Education degree program, you will learn educational theories and effective teaching practices and conduct research projects. You’ll be immersed in the real world through field experiences—which require you to observe and participate in teaching activities at multiple elementary schools and child care centers—and student teaching in classrooms around Chicago.

The data science master’s will provide you with the technical knowledge and advanced computational skills to meet emerging challenges in big data analytics. Hospitality
Some courses are available online. The Hospitality concentration addresses the increasing demand of data scientists that combine the computational skills to extract information from massive amounts of data with the competency in hospitality revenue analytics and optimization. The focus of this concentration is to teach data science master’s students the analytics needs and challenges of the hospitality and tourism industry.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry program will provide you with the fundamentals of chemical theory and practice through scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities.

As a chemistry major will have multiple opportunities to gain hands-on research experience working with chemistry faculty members conducting research projects funded through government, foundation and industry grants. Being in Chicago also allows those pursuing a BA or BS in Chemistry to attend many scientific conferences hosted in the city throughout the year.

In addition to a variety of combined degree programs, we offer a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Chemistry and Secondary Education Chemistry, allowing you to complete a bachelor’s and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

Earn your master’s in Sustainable Urban Development and explore how cities cope with the demand for environmental sustainability while supporting economic growth and social justice. The program is framed by a simple value—that a sustainable city is one that’s sustainable for everyone. You will look at sustainability holistically, researching urban environments as an integrated system. Beyond theoretical knowledge, you’ll gain a technical foundation using industry-standard Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping software.

Study French language, literature and culture and learn to communicate with more than 200 million French speakers in more than 50 countries.

French majors are encouraged to take advantage of our study abroad programs to grow linguistically and expand their cultural understanding of French-speaking societies. DePaul sponsors two study abroad programs in Paris: one at Alliance Française and another at the Institute for the International Education of Students. We also have an exchange program at Sciences Po, an elite institution in the social sciences.

For French majors interested in pursuing a career in education, the French department partners with the College of Education to award teaching degrees at the middle school and high school levels.
