The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

Study communication in the context of popular culture, the corporate world, interpersonal relationships and new media with a master’s degree in Communication and Media. Develop diverse areas of interest while focusing on a specific content area with an optional concentration in Interpersonal Communication, Media and Cinema Studies, Multicultural Communication or Organizational Communication. You’ll master the tools and frameworks to critically examine and resolve real-life communication issues.

Multicultural Communication
The Multicultural Communication concentration focuses on the dynamics of communication across cultures. It explores not only what happens when people of two different cultures meet, but also what happens when people from a variety of cultures and ethnicities come together in one organization, community or country.

This concentration will be of interest to those who work with international and multiethnic corporations and to public service personnel serving individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultural traditions.

The MA in Animation degree provides a combination of artistic and technical training that prepares students for a future in 3D character animation, traditional animation, computer game art, or visual effects.

Traditional Animation
The Traditional Animator Concentration is for students who are interested in deepening their knowledge of traditional animation, including hand-drawn, stop motion, and hybrid methods, with an eye towards a production career in animation. Students in this concentration will train in the history, critical artistic issues, and fundamental principles that are necessary for animation artists. MA in Animation graduates will be prepared for many varied career options available to animators, including storyboard artists, visual development artists, layout artists, character animators, and commercial animators.

Through DePaul’s Data Science program, you’ll develop a deep understanding of computer science, mathematics and information management — the three primary components of the data science profession.

As you work towards your B.S. in Data Science, program coursework will teach you:

• Mathematical foundations in data analysis
• Technical skills for data processing and application development
• Advanced machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
• Analytical and communication skills to explain results in a meaningful way

You’ll take a common core of courses in computer science, programming, mathematics and software during your first two years, after which you will select data science courses with a more narrow focus based on your interests.

As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

Urban Diplomacy
The Urban Diplomacy concentration examines the practice of diplomacy within the boundaries of a single city. Students learn how to apply the tools and understanding of diplomatic practices like mediation, conflict resolution, advocacy, and leadership within the context of local government, community organizing, and globally-connected business.

Gain an understanding of the history of philosophy, philosophical issues regarding law, medicine and business, as well as the basic problems posed by diverse thinkers. You will also develop analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills while analyzing both the humanistic and technical features of philosophy.

Regardless of your career goals, a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy will provide you with excellent tools and skills in critical thinking, analyzing content from various perspectives, and verbal and written communication. You will learn to form arguments and take a position on an issue.

DePaul’s Master of Public Service Management (MPS) is designed to teach you broad-based management skills that lead to careers across many sectors, including nonprofit, governmental agencies, higher education and health care.

You’ll choose a concentration in one of the following areas:

Metropolitan Planning and Urban Affairs Concentration
The Metropolitan Planning and Urban Affairs concentration provides students with a broad perspective on the issues relating to land use, transportation, housing, economic development, and related social problems. It instills an understanding of the institutional and analytical issues affecting units of government, planning agencies, and other urban public service institutions.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides a collaborative, applied approach to public health education, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to vulnerable populations. Gain the knowledge and practical skills to become an effective public health leader and solve problems to reduce health disparities. Choose from one of two concentrations:

• Community health practice: Assess a community’s health needs and design, implement and evaluate interventions that address those needs.
• Social epidemiology: Use biostatistics and epidemiology to inform research, policy and intervention efforts aimed at eliminating health inequalities.

Whether your interest is in Japanese literature, culture, history or language, DePaul’s flexible Japanese MA and its customizable curriculum allow you to develop advanced, specialized expertise. This program is ideal for both those who wish to pursue careers in translation, teaching or cultural institutions and for those who are preparing for an academic career.

DePaul's graduate Computer Science program is the premier training ground for computing professionals in the Chicago area. Unlike a certificate program, our master's courses focus on fundamental concepts that remain constant, even as technology changes rapidly. Unlike more research focused institutions, however, our courses emphasize the programmatic application of these fundamental concepts. Students interested in research will find an abundance of advanced topics—medical imaging, data mining, algorithmic analysis, and scientific computing, to name a few.
