As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

In DePaul’s flexible master’s in Writing and Publishing, you have the unique opportunity to study across genres and develop and revise your work under the mentorship of acclaimed authors and poets. Choose from courses in poetry, fiction and non-fiction (travel, magazine, memoir, science writing, personal essay, etc). Professional internships give you the opportunity to join Chicago’s vibrant literary scene—and to start a rewarding creative career.

DePaul’s Master of Public Service Management (MPS) is designed to teach you broad-based management skills that lead to careers across many sectors, including nonprofit, governmental agencies, higher education and health care.

Higher Education Administration Concentration
For managers in post-secondary institutions of learning, this concentration teaches necessary analytical and managerial skills. The coursework helps students develop an understanding of management principles, policy analysis, and research within higher education. Electives provide opportunities to explore leadership, governance, strategic planning, budgeting, finance, law, diversity, enrollment management, marketing, student affairs, and politics in higher education.

As a Journalism major at DePaul, you will develop a skill set that prepares you for a career as a multimedia content producer and video storyteller. Because the Journalism field is constantly evolving with the use of new technology, you will learn about industry trends and how to use professional equipment, software and online tools.

Students earning their degree in journalism at DePaul have access to the green screen studio, control room, editing suites and the digital equipment facility. Student journalists also staff our award-winning student media outlets: The DePaulia newspaper, 14 East Magazine, Radio DePaul and the Good Day DePaul news show.

The BA in Journalism degree program is offered at our Loop Campus in downtown Chicago, giving you access to many media outlets and opportunities to meet and work professionally with leading companies in the industry.

DePaul’s political science program studies the organization and behavior of people, groups and institutions that make up political and governmental systems. You will be introduced to questions, perspectives and arguments about the political forces that shape your life.

A degree in political science incorporates historical, psychological, sociological, economic and philosophical dimensions to help you develop critical thinking, research and communication skills.

Chicago, one of the most dynamic political scenes in the United States, offers many opportunities for you to become involved in politics, non-profit organizations and advocacy organizations, allowing you to apply your coursework to real life situations.

Earn your graduate accounting degree and complete the additional credits to qualify for the CPA exam with the master’s in Audit and Advisory Services. You’ll gain practical, advanced auditing skills to excel in a career in a public accounting firm or corporate internal audit department.

By majoring in Arabic Studies, you will develop the ability to speak, understand, read and write the Arabic language. You will also expand your knowledge of the Middle East and be encouraged to foster an appreciation of Islamic literature and civilization.

The Arabic language is one of the United Nations’ six official languages, and the U.S. Government considers it one of the most critical languages for Americans to learn. Chicago has one of the nation’s largest Arab-American populations in the U.S., giving you opportunities to visit its communities and gain first-hand knowledge about the Arab culture and language.

The master’s in Digital Communication and Media Arts (DCMA) will give you the technical skills and tools to effectively navigate the digital communication landscape. This flexible program allows you to tailor your coursework across interests such as branding, content strategy, social media, data-driven marketing, media literacy, documentary production and design.

This interdisciplinary degree program is offered through the College of Communication and the College of Computing and Digital Media; you’ll take courses in Public Relations and Advertising, Journalism, Media and Cinema Studies, and Digital Communication.

The Master of Science in Film and Television emphasizes technical and creative proficiency in the areas of cinematography, editing, and sound for the screen. This intensive program is designed for students looking to acquire and further professional career skills in film and television. The degree is well-suited for career-changers as well as experienced professionals who want to add new technologies and creative workflows to their expertise.

As a German major, you’ll study German and Austrian cultures (authors, musicians, literature), language and notions of German history. German is the most widely spoken first language in the European Union, and German-speaking countries are among the most influential engines driving culture, business and politics today.

Through your studies, you will learn that the German-speaking world is rich and multifaceted, including the works of Mozart, Goethe, Freud, Kafka and Marx. As a German major, you’ll explore the crucial questions of memory and history particular to the German past. You’ll become equipped with crucial skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and intercultural communication—providing you with career opportunities around the world.
