The Bachelor of Arts with major in Health Science degree is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare-related professions. This degree provides broad-based interdisciplinary training with a core in the basic sciences and requires a concentration in one of the following areas: Geriatrics (Aging Studies), Women’s Health, Public/Global/Environmental Health, Science and Behavioral and Mental Health.

The program structure enables students to take relevant coursework in various colleges and departments across FAU to broaden their understanding of factors that both positively and negatively impact the healthcare system, patients and practitioners. In addition, through the Health Science course sequence, students learn how professionals from various fields of practice (medicine, pharmacy, social work, nursing, etc.) interact in a collaborative manner. Students also have access to clinical observation opportunities and other extracurricular activities (lab experiences, internships, research).

In Multimedia Studies, the BA degree sequence in FILM, VIDEO, AND NEW MEDIA attracts diverse and creative students who crave an opportunity to engage with the rapidly evolving media world. From its origins as an interdepartmental program in film studies, the program in the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies is currently home to roughly ___ majors. FVNM coursework immerses students in a dynamic curriculum rooted in a liberal arts education, which emphasizes the links between media history, analysis and creative practice. Our majors study the relationships between different forms of cinema and digital media through a well-rounded sequence that spans film studies, media studies, digital film production, and computer animation. FVNM graduates are critically sophisticated, historically knowledgeable, and technologically proficient.

The research interests of accomplished scholars and creators on our faculty shape our upper-level curriculum’s coverage of commercial, independent, and experimental media, through courses in documentary, activist media, world cinema, queer media, digital cultures, interactive and web-based media, animation, and video games. Our students are encouraged to craft individual paths through rigorous scholarly work and hands-on practical training, preparing them to thrive in media-related sectors, including arts and entertainment, education, and technology.

Civil engineers design the constructed environment and the infrastructure that supports our society. From highways and buildings to bridges, water resource systems and the environment, the profession of civil engineering is responsible for much of the world in which we live. The variety of challenges facing modern society means that civil engineers can look forward to a highly rewarding, dynamic career.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

We offer B.A. degree programs in French, Italian, Linguistics, and Spanish as well as courses in Arabic, German, Mandarin Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese and Latin, many of which count toward academic minors and certificates. We provide our students with a broad liberal arts background through coursework in language, culture and literature in an interdisciplinary context. Our programs appeal to a wide variety of students, including humanities-oriented students, future educators, and those who wish to broaden their global horizons in the humanities while pursuing careers in business, law, health care, engineering, international relations and science. Our curriculum is designed to reflect South Florida's diversity and meet the intellectual needs of our multi-ethnic population. Our department's philosophy is that interdisciplinary studies and multiculturalism are ideally expressed in a plurality of languages and approached from multiple cultural perspectives across temporal and spatial boundaries. 

The major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Social Science was designed for students who wish to study broadly in the social sciences rather than concentrate on a particular discipline. The knowledge and intellectual training provided is excellent preparation for careers in government, public service, or law. 

The Department of Marketing offers programs of study that prepare students for professional careers in the growing fields of brand management, retailing management, digital marketing, social media, advertising, and personal selling and sales management. Applied projects are interwoven with academic coursework to expose students to a range of current marketing trends and strategies. Original research and creative scholarship among department faculty contribute to improvements in both the theory and practice of marketing. Students are prepared to become effective marketing managers in the customer-centered marketplace of tomorrow.

History majors use the study of the past to make sense of a complicated world; they learn how to think critically, evaluate evidence, and write with clarity and strength. Majors attain skills that prepare them for jobs in a wide variety of fields, as employers look for applicants who have broad interests and backgrounds and analytical and verbal skills-- rather than narrow field specialization.

The study of history is useful in ways that students may not always anticipate, but which employers often understand... There is no single path that carries history undergraduates directly to one chosen career, but many ways in which skills learned in the study of the past can be translated into the enterprises of the present. History always involves asking how we can make sense of complex situations... That kind of awareness of the complexity of events is exactly what decision-making in business, government, law, journalism, and other fields often requires.

The Bachelor of Science with Major in Data Science and Analytics (BSDSA) is a multi-college, interdisciplinary program jointly administered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the Department of Information Technology and Operations Management {ITOM) in the College of Business, the Department of Political Science in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice.

 The Department of Exercise Science & Health Promotion (ESHP) emphasizes technology-based instruction to improve critical thinking skills necessary for health-related professions while publishing molecular and behavioral based research that informs lifestyle choices that reduce the occurrence and severity of chronic disease.
