Overview
The Department of Psychology is represented by faculty at three FAU campuses (Boca Raton, Davie and Jupiter). The Department of Psychology maintains a research-intensive graduate program, offering the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Experimental Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Psychology. We service over 2100 undergraduate majors as well. Our award-winning and internationally renowned faculty conduct research in four core areas of Psychology: Cognitive & Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental, Neuroscience, and Social/Personality Psychology. Students in our program undergo rigorous academic and research training and have gone on to successful careers in both academia and industry.
Part of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, the department maintains close links with the Center for Complex Systems, with many faculty maintaining dual appointments. The department is among the most successful in the college in obtaining external funding and enjoys a strong national and international profile.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

The Multimedia Journalism Sequence prepares students to work in the new media convergence environment — where competition, deregulation, and digital technology break down the barriers among print, radio, television, and the Internet.
Students are expected to develop strong basic writing and analytical skills and then to become adept at writing and producing for multiple media platforms simultaneously, exhibiting the versatility necessary to succeed in a quickly evolving and growing media market.
The goals of the Multimedia Journalism Sequence are to provide a broad liberal arts education as well as develop professional skills so that graduates are able to fully exercise the civic responsibilities of journalists for the lively functioning of democratic institutions. In addition, students will choose an emphasis in another discipline that will help them fulfill the important role of information provider in today's global, technological, and information-based society.

Bachelor of Business Administration in Management with Concentration in Leadership and Applied Management Skills
Designed to develop and prepare the business leaders of tomorrow to tackle the challenges of the global business environment, the major in Management has two tracks: Leadership and Applied Management, and Entrepreneurship.
Students in the Leadership track have opportunities to advance in human resources and management with various levels of responsibility building successful teams while managing an increasingly complex business environment. Successful leaders develop the strategies, plans, procedures, and policies that guide a business team in the short and long term. Successful leaders do so by coordinating human, financial, and material assets to achieve organizational objectives.
Students in the Entrepreneurship track receive mentoring and develop the skills they need to start their own business or work in a business startup. Entrepreneurs are at the heart of job growth. Students with the intentions of one day leading their own business will benefit from this quality program. In addition, students have numerous resources available on campus such as the Adams Center For Entrepreneurship and the Research Park at FAU to assist them with a start-up. Bachelor of Urban Design
The Bachelor of Urban Design (BUD) degree program provides a broad knowledge of the principles and practices of urban design. It is ideal for students who are interested in design of the built environment at the neighborhood, community, and city scale, with an emphasis on sustainable development. The program offers an interdisciplinary approach for students who plan to pursue a professional career in an urban discipline, such as urban and regional planning, urban development policy, real estate development, municipal and planning law, as well as design disciplines, including architecture and landscape architecture at the graduate level.
The program utilizes the South Florida metropolitan region as an "urban living laboratory" for the students to exercise their urban design creativity, but also covers national and global context. Students’ experience will also benefit from partnerships forged between the BUD program and practitioners and private design and consulting firms, with both local and international experience, in the South Florida Metropolitan area, with both local and international experience.

Every type of business, from private industry, to local, state, and federal public careers, to government, and even academia require accountants. Accountant skills are in demand and they always will be; the job opportunities that exist today are better than ever.
The School of Accounting is selective. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Students who have a high-standing in pre-business courses and/or relevant business experience are preferable to those who do not have such qualifications. Students who have been dismissed from any traditional Accounting program are not eligible for re-admission.
