The major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts and Humanities is appropriate for students who wish to design a program of study that spans a broad range of disciplines. The student who wishes to pursue this major should contact the Office of Student Academic Services for advising. The Department of Marketing offers programs of study that prepare students for professional careers in the growing fields of brand management, retailing management, digital marketing, social media, advertising, and personal selling and sales management. Applied projects are interwoven with academic coursework to expose students to a range of current marketing trends and strategies. Original research and creative scholarship among department faculty contribute to improvements in both the theory and practice of marketing. Students are prepared to become effective marketing managers in the customer-centered marketplace of tomorrow.

The Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is the home to the Jewish Studies academic degree program. The program is interdisciplinary and interdepartmental with an academic foundation in Hebrew language and Jewish culture offered by core faculty members from across the college.

The program promotes the academic study of Jewish culture, society and religion for all students at the University. Through the Jewish Studies Program, students may train for a career in the Jewish community or in Jewish education, learn about Jewish issues and opportunities for Jewish public service, and develop a deeper understanding of American and world Jewry, as well as enhancing a degree in the humanities or social sciences with a minor or a degree in Jewish Studies.

Through course work, students may study areas such as Jewish Civilization, History, Israel, Holocaust Studies, Arts and Culture, Religion, Politics and Social Issues. Undergraduates may major or receive a certificate in Jewish studies. The program may serve as preparation for graduate work in Jewish studies, as background for a career in Jewish education or community service, or as an area of special interest that will enrich the undergraduate experience. Students may combine the Jewish Studies major or minor with other majors and go on to professional careers in law, medicine, journalism, business or other professions. Moreover, since dynamic contact with many other religions and cultures influenced the development of Jewish civilization, students study Jews and Judaism within the broader context of dominant societies and the spectrum of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Students are expected to develop as critical thinkers, aware of the diversity and complexity of the field. The center promotes a broad and comprehensive approach including the arts, politics and religion. The curriculum emphasizes historical transformations and comparative frameworks among various Jewish communities and with other groups and religions.

The Master of Science with Major in Computer Science (MSCS) prepares students for careers in industry in various positions such as Software Engineer, Software Architect, Big Data Engineer, Data Analytics Engineer, Database Engineer, Mobile Application Engineer, Cybersecurity Engineer, and Senior Application Developer. Students in the program build a foundational background in computer science theory, software development and computer systems, and are exposed to the latest advances in various areas including machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, advanced programming methodologies, database systems, cybersecurity, cryptography, wireless communications and networking, IoT and smart systems, bioinformatics, multimedia systems, mobile application development, and healthcare informatics.

The Department of Finance offers a variety of courses in finance which include corporate finance, investments, financial markets, banking, and international finance. The finance major is both a business field as well as a social science field, the major provides relevant training for a wide variety of careers. All finance majors draw upon strong mathematical and computer skills and interests. Many finance majors focus on the practical application of finance in both the private and government sectors. Some of the courses typically offered to a Major in Finance include principles of financial management, financial analysis, capital planning, capital budgeting, funds acquisition, asset and debt management, and investments and portfolio management.

Learning Goals for the Finance Major:

• Analyze the relationships that exist between the financial markets and the financial decisions of business enterprises.
• Apply the economic and financial theories regarding asset pricing to problem solving in financial management, investment management, and financial institutions.
• Explain the role of portfolio theory, diversification concepts, and asset-pricing theory in decision-making in both the business enterprise and investment management.
• Perform a financial analysis using financial statement information and other disclosures in order to assess the financial condition and performance of a business enterprise.
• Estimate the future cash flows associated with a financial or capital asset and apply valuation techniques to these cash flows to determine a present value that will assist in decision-making.

Management Information Systems (MIS) is a discipline and a profession that brings information and communication technologies to businesses and society. By applying information and communications technologies and systems, MIS solves real business problems and gives competitive advantage to firms. MIS focuses on the concepts and tools necessary for analyzing, designing, planning, developing, and managing organizational information resources.

MIS emphasizes management and looks at applications and technological products as part of a system. MIS graduates have a systems perspective and business processes in mind. They are service oriented and able to communicate client needs to IT staff. They are educated in people skills, project management, and teamwork experience. Although entry level positions are similar to those earned by computer science graduates, MIS graduates are more likely to move into managerial positions overseeing and directing the design and development of systems solutions for companies.

Cybersecurity Concentration
Cybersecurity involves the practice of protecting a business' devices, systems, networks, and data from attackers with malicious intent. Cybersecurity provides organizations with the digital protection they need to conduct their everyday business with confidence

The Department of Political Science offers undergraduate and graduate courses that contribute to the understanding of American politics, comparative politics, and international relations. The Department embraces the epistemology of social science research and helps students develop skills important to this field, and many others, including written and oral communication and critical thinking.

The Department offers a B.A. in political science which provides a flexible curriculum that allows students to design a program of study tailored to their academic, professional and personal interests.

History majors use the study of the past to make sense of a complicated world; they learn how to think critically, evaluate evidence, and write with clarity and strength. Majors attain skills that prepare them for jobs in a wide variety of fields, as employers look for applicants who have broad interests and backgrounds and analytical and verbal skills-- rather than narrow field specialization.

There is no single path that carries history undergraduates directly to one chosen career, but many ways in which skills learned in the study of the past can be translated into the enterprises of the present. History always involves asking how we can make sense of complex situations... That kind of awareness of the complexity of events is exactly what decision-making in business, government, law, journalism, and other fields often requires.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:
