The Department of Psychology is represented by faculty at three FAU campuses (Boca Raton, Davie and Jupiter). The Department of Psychology maintains a research-intensive graduate program, offering the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Experimental Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Psychology. We service over 2100 undergraduate majors as well. Our award-winning and internationally renowned faculty conduct research in four core areas of Psychology: Cognitive & Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental, Neuroscience, and Social/Personality Psychology. Students in our program undergo rigorous academic and research training and have gone on to successful careers in both academia and industry.

Part of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, the department maintains close links with the Center for Complex Systems, with many faculty maintaining dual appointments. The department is among the most successful in the college in obtaining external funding and enjoys a strong national and international profile.

The Bachelor of Music: Performance concentration is designed to prepare music majors for professional performance careers, private studio teaching and/or the pursuit of further academic study.

The Master of Science with Major in Computer Science (MSCS) prepares students for careers in industry in various positions such as Software Engineer, Software Architect, Big Data Engineer, Data Analytics Engineer, Database Engineer, Mobile Application Engineer, Cybersecurity Engineer, and Senior Application Developer. Students in the program build a foundational background in computer science theory, software development and computer systems, and are exposed to the latest advances in various areas including machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, advanced programming methodologies, database systems, cybersecurity, cryptography, wireless communications and networking, IoT and smart systems, bioinformatics, multimedia systems, mobile application development, and healthcare informatics.

Welcome to le site for French Studies in the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature at FAU. Our program’s mission is to promote the study of French language, literature, linguistics, and culture through interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches. Our courses therefore stress the importance of French as a vibrant language with a strong global presence, as they examine the rich variety and ongoing international influence of French and Francophone traditions and civilizations from the Middle Ages to the present, from Europe to the Caribbean (and beyond).

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology is a rigorous, streamlined, pre-professional program unique in Southeast Florida that will enable students to pursue competitive professional training programs in the health sciences. This program is tailored for students who seek entrance into top-tier schools in the fields of medicine, veterinary science, pharmacology, and more.  

Students pursuing a master’s or a doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, or Psychology, including those at FAU, will also find the B.S. in Medical Biology an attractive path.

Students majoring in Medical Biology will benefit from a challenging, highly-structured course plan designed to fulfill the prerequisites of medically-focused programs through pre-selected core and elective courses that will prepare students for professional entrance exams, moving students one step closer to their academic and professional goals. The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) is a professional program that provides students with the knowledge base and analytical and design skills to address issues that affect the quality of life in neighborhoods, suburbs, cities, and regions. The curriculum consists of planning lecture courses, studio/lab courses, and professional practice courses that give students real-world planning experience. Students select courses from a wide variety of suggested electives that allow them to focus on topics of particular interest. Graduates of the program qualify for positions in a variety of public and private organizations, including local and state planning departments, nonprofit organizations, and private sector planning and development firms.

Designed to develop and prepare the business leaders of tomorrow to tackle the challenges of the global business environment, the major in Management has two tracks: Leadership and Applied Management, and Entrepreneurship.

Students in the Leadership track have opportunities to advance in human resources and management with various levels of responsibility building successful teams while managing an increasingly complex business environment. Successful leaders develop the strategies, plans, procedures, and policies that guide a business team in the short and long term. Successful leaders do so by coordinating human, financial, and material assets to achieve organizational objectives.

Students in the Entrepreneurship track receive mentoring and develop the skills they need to start their own business or work in a business startup. Entrepreneurs are at the heart of job growth. Students with the intentions of one day leading their own business will benefit from this quality program. In addition, students have numerous resources available on campus such as the Adams Center For Entrepreneurship and the Research Park at FAU to assist them with a start-up. Both tracks are designed to permit a dual major or minor in a targeted area of interest.

 The Department of Exercise Science & Health Promotion (ESHP) emphasizes technology-based instruction to improve critical thinking skills necessary for health-related professions while publishing molecular and behavioral based research that informs lifestyle choices that reduce the occurrence and severity of chronic disease.
