 The Department of Exercise Science & Health Promotion (ESHP) emphasizes technology-based instruction to improve critical thinking skills necessary for health-related professions while publishing molecular and behavioral based research that informs lifestyle choices that reduce the occurrence and severity of chronic disease.

Our programs provide the flexibility you need, allowing students to pick and choose between traditional and fully online classes, with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of research, both taking place in key areas in South Florida and across the world.

The department offers thesis and non-thesis options at the master's level. Students may specialize in several areas: telecommunications; digital signal processing; systems and robotics, including control systems and machine vision; electromagnetics and RF, antennas, microwave systems, EMC/EMI and HF RF circuit design; alternative energy systems, including photovoltaic and fuel cell systems; bioengineering; neural networks; and optics and photonics.

Computer engineering focuses on system, software and hardware aspects of computing, and includes programming and software engineering. Students learn about electronics, logic design, computer design and architecture, microprocessors, design automation, operating systems, and software engineering. Computer engineer's career opportunities are limitless and include working in the computer industry or with companies that integrate computers into more complex products.

Management Information Systems (MIS) is a discipline and a profession that brings information and communication technologies to businesses and society. By applying information and communications technologies and systems, MIS solves real business problems and gives competitive advantage to firms. MIS focuses on the concepts and tools necessary for analyzing, designing, planning, developing, and managing organizational information resources.

MIS emphasizes management and looks at applications and technological products as part of a system. MIS graduates have a systems perspective and business processes in mind. They are service oriented and able to communicate client needs to IT staff. They are educated in people skills, project management, and teamwork experience. Although entry level positions are similar to those earned by computer science graduates, MIS graduates are more likely to move into managerial positions overseeing and directing the design and development of systems solutions for companies.

The Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is the home to the Jewish Studies academic degree program. The program is interdisciplinary and interdepartmental with an academic foundation in Hebrew language and Jewish culture offered by core faculty members from across the college.

The program promotes the academic study of Jewish culture, society and religion for all students at the University. Through the Jewish Studies Program, students may train for a career in the Jewish community or in Jewish education, learn about Jewish issues and opportunities for Jewish public service, and develop a deeper understanding of American and world Jewry, as well as enhancing a degree in the humanities or social sciences with a minor or a degree in Jewish Studies.

Through course work, students may study areas such as Jewish Civilization, History, Israel, Holocaust Studies, Arts and Culture, Religion, Politics and Social Issues. Undergraduates may major or receive a certificate in Jewish studies. The program may serve as preparation for graduate work in Jewish studies, as background for a career in Jewish education or community service, or as an area of special interest that will enrich the undergraduate experience. Students may combine the Jewish Studies major or minor with other majors and go on to professional careers in law, medicine, journalism, business or other professions. Moreover, since dynamic contact with many other religions and cultures influenced the development of Jewish civilization, students study Jews and Judaism within the broader context of dominant societies and the spectrum of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Students are expected to develop as critical thinkers, aware of the diversity and complexity of the field. The center promotes a broad and comprehensive approach including the arts, politics and religion. The curriculum emphasizes historical transformations and comparative frameworks among various Jewish communities and with other groups and religions.

Chemistry is the central science, encompassing elements of physics, biology, and mathematics, as well as unique elements of its own.  The Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) is designed for students preparing for professional careers as chemists in industry, government, or academic research.

Accounting is renowned as the language and basic tool of business. Every type of business, from private industry, to local, state, and federal public careers, to government, and even academia require accountants. Accountant skills are in demand and they always will be; the job opportunities that exist today are better than ever.

The School of Accounting is selective. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Students who have a high-standing in pre-business courses and/or relevant business experience are preferable to those who do not have such qualifications. Students who have been dismissed from any traditional Accounting program are not eligible for re-admission.

The Hospitality & Tourism Management program prepares students for management positions in multiple segments of the world’s largest service industry. Upon completion, graduates assume various professional roles in a wide variety of industry venues including: resorts, hotels, restaurants, private clubs, meeting and event planning corporations, destination marketing organizations, convention centers, conference centers, cruise lines, casinos, theme parks, auto rental agencies, sports facilities and arenas, spas, entertainment venues and theaters, and vacation ownership or fractional ownership operations.

The major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Social Science was designed for students who wish to study broadly in the social sciences rather than concentrate on a particular discipline. The knowledge and intellectual training provided is excellent preparation for careers in government, public service, or law.
