International Year Program (1-Semester) - Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theater

As a Mathematics major, students will gain an increased understanding and appreciation for math as a universal language. Students can expect to use and build on skills such as thinking critically, formulating and solving problems and communicating solutions. Students will increase their ability to prove theorems, understand complex structure, and apply mathematics and statistics in many real-world settings. The program students choose will make it possible for them to acquire strong preparation for graduate work or for professional applications in mathematics and statistics, teaching, natural and social sciences or other technical areas.

There will also be opportunities for students to experience the challenge and rewards of faculty-mentored research. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the numerous undergraduate research opportunities as well as individual and small group projects available in the department. Opportunities exist through the Center for Mathematical Modeling, the Office of Statistical Services, honors theses, and independent studies with individual faculty mentors.

ISAT is a program that emphasizes the interdisciplinary application of science, technology, math and systems thinking to the compelling and complex problems that challenge our society. Students collaborate science and technology with the political, social, economic, and ethical considerations required to address complex, real-world challenges such as pandemics, climate change, information privacy, and sustainable transportation networks. From developing clean energy, advancing modern medicine through biotechnology to improving sustainability, ISAT is a community that joins together to learn, solve problems and make a difference.

As an ISAT major, you’ll:

• Enjoy a range of options in choosing what to study: applied biotechnology, energy, engineering/manufacturing, environment, information and knowledge management, telecommunications – including the option to create your own.
• Participate in course work and research that addresses major local, national and global challenges.

• Complete a two year long capstone project working individually or in teams to solve a real-world problem – often teaming with local industry or governmental sponsor.

Digital Video and Cinema - Concentration
We prepare students to serve as creative, reflective and highly skilled media producers and storytellers, sensitive to the personal and social impact of the messages they create and to the important role media can play in advancing the public interest.

Graduates of the School of Media Arts and Design work in media or in media-related careers. Program concentrations allow students to pursue interests in journalism, digital video and cinema, creative advertising or interactive design. The major also prepares students for graduate study in mass communication, journalism, advertising, visual communication or digital production. SMAD’s 39-credit-hour requirement allows students to pursue minors and second majors, to strengthen their knowledge about the types of stories they want to tell.

Kinesiology
The Department of Kinesiology is dedicated to the development of future leaders in professions that maximize the potential of individuals and society through exercise, sport and leisure activities. There are two different concentrations in kinesiology: exercise science and physical and health education teacher education.

Dance
We offer a major in Dance with a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for a diverse range of career paths. We work with each student to help define and shape their individual path, and endeavor to create a positive and collaborative environment that is inclusive and responsive to the needs and goals of the 21st-century artist. The intensive curriculum prepares dancers to create, perform, produce, analyse and teach the art of dance.

The School of Theatre and Dance combines the best attributes of a liberal arts education and professional arts training. Students major in theatre, musical theatre, or dance and study with a faculty of working professionals who give personal attention to every student. With a wide range of performance opportunities, one of the distinctive features of the School of Theatre and Dance is the emphasis it places on student generated work in the Experimental Theatre and Dance Studio productions.

Our students learn how to communicate effectively in another language, while understanding and appreciating the culture in which it is spoken. The Geography program empowers, inspires and motivates students to become competent critical thinkers prepared for life-long learning. Students will be able to respond to intellectual challenges with interest, excitement and competence and see themselves as global citizen actively involved in the world around them.

By graduating with a degree in geography, students will be confident in their abilities as a geographer, prepared for a lifetime of learning in geography and have the skills to make a professional contribution to the field. Health Services Administration  
The Health Services Administration major prepares students for entry-level administrative positions and administrative staff support roles in various health organizations such as hospitals, hospital systems, ambulatory clinics, physician practices, nursing homes and managed care organizations. Health services administration is a dynamic and rewarding profession that combines students' interest in health, business and serving others.

Through case studies and applied learning activities, faculty help students gain an understanding of key management functions and techniques used in health organizations, current issues confronting administrators, and the role of administrators in assuring organizational performance.
