Teaching
The mathematics department at Lipscomb University prepares you to be an excellent teacher who is both mathematically sound and pedagogically proficient. We work closely with Lipscomb’s nationally ranked College of Education to ensure that you are trained and up to date in the latest educational standards and trends. The extra hours of foreign language required for a B.A. make for a highly marketable degree due to the diversity of Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

We have a very high placement rate for employment of our graduates. Recent graduates have been recognized for excellence in teaching. Two have been named Teacher of the Year in Metro Nashville within the last five years.

Prepare to make a difference as an effective, ethical financier. Our experienced faculty will guide and grow you. You'll have opportunities for experiential learning, including managerial finance, international economics, portfolio management. In our Financial Markets Lab, you'll learn to use Bloomberg Terminals to analyze financial data and metrics. You'll even have a keycard to access the lab at any time.

You'll have internship and study abroad opportunities. You'll be part of the Lipscomb team that competes against other universities in the TVA Investment Challenge. You and your team will manage a portfolio of securities on TVA's behalf. Each team competing will be responsible for security selection, portfolio balancing and other fund management decisions. Applied
The more mathematics an engineering, science, computer science or business student takes, the more jobs openings and graduate school openings are available to that student. The applied mathematics degree is an especially good choice for a double major for students who are already required to have a minor in mathematics, such as engineering and computer science majors. The coursework in the English Teaching program is designed to provide you with foundational literary and educational concepts, practical field experience, and a broad understanding of textual genres, historical periods, composition/rhetoric, and the cultural significance of relevant writers and their texts.
