The mathematics department at Lipscomb University prepares you to be an excellent teacher who is both mathematically sound and pedagogically proficient. We work closely with Lipscomb’s nationally ranked College of Education to ensure that you are trained and up to date in the latest educational standards and trends. The extra hours of foreign language required for a B.A. make for a highly marketable degree due to the diversity of Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

We have a very high placement rate for employment of our graduates. Recent graduates have been recognized for excellence in teaching. Two have been named Teacher of the Year in Metro Nashville within the last five years.

Let us ready you to be a middle or high school teacher. As a biology teaching major, you'll get to network during clinical practice classes, which will set you up for employment by graduation. You'll have the chance to go to the Tennessee Science Teachers Association meeting or the National Science Teachers Association meeting. Our program sets itself apart by being distinctly Christian — with a plethora of research opportunities. We provide flexible emphases for our applied chemistry major, from computer science or mathematics to business, green chemistry, environmental chemistry and forensic science.

We're always looking at what's on the horizon in health care so that you'll be ready to adapt to technological advances in nursing. Our Christ-centered, professional faculty have dedicated their lives to equipping you. You'll get a high quality education in medical surgical courses and all specialty areas including: critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and community-based learning. And our graduates are successful — in fact, 100 percent of nurses who graduated from our program are working in their health care careers. Research shows 79.6 percent of employers want BSN-prepared nurses. And lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors and positive outcomes are an outcome of nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level (AACN, Oct. 2017).
