Teaching
The mathematics department at Lipscomb University prepares you to be an excellent teacher who is both mathematically sound and pedagogically proficient. The extra hours of foreign language required for a B.A. make for a highly marketable degree due to the diversity of Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

In our Financial Markets Lab, you'll learn to use Bloomberg Terminals to analyze financial data and metrics. You'll even have a keycard to access the lab at any time.

You'll have internship and study abroad opportunities. You'll be part of the Lipscomb team that competes against other universities in the TVA Investment Challenge. You and your team will manage a portfolio of securities on TVA's behalf. Each team competing will be responsible for security selection, portfolio balancing and other fund management decisions. At Lipscomb, you'll grow your creative skills under some of the most prominent animators in the U.S., including Tom Bancroft and John Pomeroy. You’ll connect with and learn from experts in Maya software, the industry standard in computer graphics and CGI effects. You’ll even have the option of taking on opportunities in Los Angeles — our department’s Los Angeles internship program as well as a yearly trip to work at an animation studio there.

The political science program is dedicated to producing wise leaders and responsible citizens. Politics is society in action as it makes choices and shapes priorities. Our students enjoy the chance to witness and participate in local and state government here in Nashville, Tennessee's state capital. The Washington Seminar allows them an inside look at our national policy process and on-site visits to places no tourist goes. Many students use their Global Learning semester abroad to travel and study internationally, which they integrate into our International Affairs major.

We have pledged ourselves to making politics and citizenship accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in Politics general education curriculum serves our students' need to know the ideas and habits of citizenship. Our 39-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the political science major to their primary field of study.

Whether it's your love for theatre, professional ambition, or calling to teach that has brought you here, we will guide you into becoming a well-rounded theatre practitioner committed to artistic and academic excellence. After all, our world needs smart, innovative artists. We start with foundational instruction on all theatrical aspects that streamline into more specific courses each year. You'll take part in departmental productions and in the local Nashville theatre scene. Our professional faculty will connect you to outside opportunities. You'll build community in our tight-knit department, where support from the relationships you gain will continue strengthening your career even after graduation day.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Teaching is designed for students intending to pursue a career in teaching theatre at the elementary, middle school, or high school level. This degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in education. At its core, the BA in Theatre Teaching provides well-rounded theatrical training mixed with superior education courses. In this degree, students take 45 hours in theatre-specific courses, including acting, directing, and design. They also take 30 hours in education courses designed to sharpen their pedagogy skills. Additionally, there are numerous mainstage opportunities in our five productions each year along with scene work, student films, and Nashville professional opportunities. All students complete student teaching at an area school before graduation.

Pretty deep language for something that absolutely rules daily life (like the fact we walk on the ground rather than float hither and yon). Investigate the principles of physics with a high regard for creation’s God-given wonder, complexity, and amazing power.

Physics teaching majors will receive core and specialized professional education in addition to the general education required of secondary and K-12 teacher education students.
