We will help you prepare for a career in the life sciences: think clinical or biomedical research, or other graduate programs in the allied health professions. Explore the dimensions of a boundless discipline. Study some of the physical world’s most inscrutable mysteries and examine the laws of motion and energy inherent in everything we do. Our physics program will feed your curiosity and sharpen your analytical abilities.

We provide a firm academic foundation in an environment that nurtures your faith, a close-knit community where lifetime relationships are developed. You’ll hone your craft under the mentorship of brilliant faculty and work alongside peers who challenge and support you.  

Scripture tells us we are “fearfully and wonderfully” made—and few know that better than a physicist! Pretty deep language for something that absolutely rules daily life (like the fact we walk on the ground rather than float hither and yon). Investigate the principles of physics with a high regard for creation’s God-given wonder, complexity, and amazing power.

The political science program is dedicated to producing wise leaders and responsible citizens. Politics is society in action as it makes choices and shapes priorities. Our students enjoy the chance to witness and participate in local and state government here in Nashville, Tennessee's state capital. The Washington Seminar allows them an inside look at our national policy process and on-site visits to places no tourist goes. Many students use their Global Learning semester abroad to travel and study internationally, which they integrate into our International Affairs major.

We have pledged ourselves to making politics and citizenship accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in Politics general education curriculum serves our students' need to know the ideas and habits of citizenship. Our 39-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the political science major to their primary field of study.

Computer science is at the core of new technology. So open the door to opportunities for a high-paying career. Since computing is key to all disciplines, the skills you grow under the guidance of our experienced faculty will let you to chart a course in any field of your choice. Let us ready you to be a middle or high school teacher. As a biology teaching major, you'll get to network during clinical practice classes, which will set you up for employment by graduation. You'll have the chance to go to the Tennessee Science Teachers Association meeting or the National Science Teachers Association meeting. You'll get to learn about teaching ideas, influential research and network with other science teachers from across the U.S.

Software engineering is your ticket to the career path of your choosing. Software is present in most technology we use every day, so it's no surprise that people with software development skills are in high demand. Our program will expose you to the theory and practical aspect of software development in a Christian context.

You'll gain professional relationships in the industry throughout Middle Tennessee, along with valuable professional connections with your teachers. In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor projects that the employment growth of social workers will grow 16 percent from 2016 to 2026. According to the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, social workers are the nation’s largest group of mental health providers. And, over 40 percent of all disaster mental health volunteers trained by the Red Cross are social workers.
