The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Teaching is designed for students intending to pursue a career in teaching theatre at the elementary, middle school, or high school level. This degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in education. At its core, the BA in Theatre Teaching provides well-rounded theatrical training mixed with superior education courses. In this degree, students take 45 hours in theatre-specific courses, including acting, directing, and design. They also take 30 hours in education courses designed to sharpen their pedagogy skills. Additionally, there are numerous mainstage opportunities in our five productions each year along with scene work, student films, and Nashville professional opportunities. All students complete student teaching at an area school before graduation.

We developed our applied biochemistry curriculum to give you exactly what you need to excel. Our dedicated faculty will prepare you for admission to competitive health-related professional schools — without advanced mathematics. Many of our applied biochemistry graduates are flourishing medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists or physician assistants. Others have found success in industry or graduate study within chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or microbiology.

Learn to tell stories as a part of a traditional newsroom, as a freelancer in new environments or as a writer for broadcast, online and print outlets. The coursework in the English Teaching program is designed to provide you with foundational literary and educational concepts, practical field experience, and a broad understanding of textual genres, historical periods, composition/rhetoric, and the cultural significance of relevant writers and their texts. The program also allows you to learn from on-site teachers in a diverse range of public and private schools in the Nashville area. The specific content areas for literature include surveys of American, British, and world literatures as well as more narrowly focused seminars, which prepare you for the required content you will be teaching.

Become skilled in one of the most valuable cultural and economic fields in the U.S. — the production and distribution of motion pictures and television. By studying film production at Lipscomb, you’ll learn the art of storytelling and how to express your original ideas on screen, in an environment that emphasizes collaboration, compassion and care for individuals and communities around the world. You’ll plan, crew and shoot projects, sharpen your screenwriting skills and learn the business, both its history and specific application. We approach the study of philosophy by reading the classics and by wrestling with ideas and reasons in civil debate with one another. What makes an action right as opposed to wrong?  What is knowledge, and can we have it?  Does anything at all make life meaningful?  How can an all-powerful and good God allow evil to occur?  What distinguishes cogent from fallacious reasoning, and how can we best analyze and assess arguments?  What is the nature of truth, beauty, goodness, and freedom?   

You'll study the work of the greatest minds in Western history. And you'll learn to identify and evaluate the fundamental assumptions that shape how we think about the world — and ourselves. Use the skills you develop in philosophy to pursue internships and job opportunities in a variety of fields, including government, politics, and history. Or continue onto law school, business school, or graduate school to hone your focus even further.
