We will help you prepare for a career in the life sciences: think clinical or biomedical research, or other graduate programs in the allied health professions. You'll face challenges in this program as you learn the cellular mechanisms underlying human physiology, genetics and disease.  You won't be alone. The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Teaching is designed for students intending to pursue a career in teaching theatre at the elementary, middle school, or high school level. This degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in education. At its core, the BA in Theatre Teaching provides well-rounded theatrical training mixed with superior education courses. In this degree, students take 45 hours in theatre-specific courses, including acting, directing, and design. They also take 30 hours in education courses designed to sharpen their pedagogy skills. Additionally, there are numerous mainstage opportunities in our five productions each year along with scene work, student films, and Nashville professional opportunities. All students complete student teaching at an area school before graduation.

So we've designed a broad curriculum with opportunities that will give you the training you need for your career goals. You'll learn to understand yourself and others better. Our electives will allow you to study what interests you the most.

Let us ready you to be a middle or high school teacher. As a biology teaching major, you'll get to network during clinical practice classes, which will set you up for employment by graduation. You'll have the chance to go to the Tennessee Science Teachers Association meeting or the National Science Teachers Association meeting. You'll get to learn about teaching ideas, influential research and network with other science teachers from across the U.S.

Biology teaching majors receive the same core as biology (general) majors. A special course developed only for those pursuing teaching is Methods of Teaching Biology. This is a 3 hour course usually taken with Clinical Practice II, which combines content with pedagogy. In this course, students learn not only their craft but also have time structured for edTPA, safety in the classroom and grant writing.

You'll have access to our historic archive including Halston, a world-renowned designer. Our collection includes historic garments from every decade since 1890 — including designer clothes.

Search through our scrapbooks and hundreds of clothing patterns (think Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Liza Minnelli and more) for inspiration. Take part in fashion shows. Study abroad opportunities include a two-week fashion course in Florence, Italy, along with a one-week New York study tour.

You'll have opportunities for experiential learning, including managerial finance, international economics, portfolio management. In our Financial Markets Lab, you'll learn to use Bloomberg Terminals to analyze financial data and metrics. You'll even have a keycard to access the lab at any time.

You'll have internship and study abroad opportunities. You'll be part of the Lipscomb team that competes against other universities in the TVA Investment Challenge. You and your team will manage a portfolio of securities on TVA's behalf. Each team competing will be responsible for security selection, portfolio balancing and other fund management decisions. With rigorous and relevant curriculum, chances for hands-on learning and real-life experience, you'll have the foundation you need to thrive.

Contribute your vision to the world. Learn the foundations and practice of animation, from character design to top-end computer graphics and 3D graphics. At Lipscomb, you'll grow your creative skills under some of the most prominent animators in the U.S., including Tom Bancroft and John Pomeroy. You’ll connect with and learn from experts in Maya software, the industry standard in computer graphics and CGI effects. You’ll even have the option of taking on opportunities in Los Angeles — our department’s Los Angeles internship program as well as a yearly trip to work at an animation studio there.
