After all, our world needs smart, innovative artists. We start with foundational instruction on all theatrical aspects that streamline into more specific courses each year. You'll take part in departmental productions and in the local Nashville theatre scene. Our professional faculty will connect you to outside opportunities. The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Teaching is designed for students intending to pursue a career in teaching theatre at the elementary, middle school, or high school level. This degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in education. At its core, the BA in Theatre Teaching provides well-rounded theatrical training mixed with superior education courses. In this degree, students take 45 hours in theatre-specific courses, including acting, directing, and design. They also take 30 hours in education courses designed to sharpen their pedagogy skills. Additionally, there are numerous mainstage opportunities in our five productions each year along with scene work, student films, and Nashville professional opportunities. All students complete student teaching at an area school before graduation.

In our studio art program, you’ll be exposed to mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, videography, and printmaking. Our Spanish Teaching degree combines the best of two worlds: our respected education program and a course of study involving language, geography and literature. We teach our classes in Spanish to prepare you for a career where you, as a teacher, will do the same.

You'll have opportunities for experiential learning, including managerial finance, international economics, portfolio management. In our Financial Markets Lab, you'll learn to use Bloomberg Terminals to analyze financial data and metrics. You'll even have a keycard to access the lab at any time.

You'll have internship and study abroad opportunities. You'll be part of the Lipscomb team that competes against other universities in the TVA Investment Challenge. You and your team will manage a portfolio of securities on TVA's behalf. Each team competing will be responsible for security selection, portfolio balancing and other fund management decisions. Let us ready you to be a middle or high school teacher. As a biology teaching major, you'll get to network during clinical practice classes, which will set you up for employment by graduation. You'll have the chance to go to the Tennessee Science Teachers Association meeting or the National Science Teachers Association meeting. You'll get to learn about teaching ideas, influential research and network with other science teachers from across the U.S.

Biology teaching majors receive the same core as biology (general) majors. A special course developed only for those pursuing teaching is Methods of Teaching Biology. This is a 3 hour course usually taken with Clinical Practice II, which combines content with pedagogy. In this course, students learn not only their craft but also have time structured for edTPA, safety in the classroom and grant writing.
