American studies is an interdisciplinary program that seeks to examine the history, culture and society of America by combining courses taken in a variety of fields including history, political science and literature. Conduct an in-depth exploration of America’s rich past—its context will provide the landscape for our country’s future.

You'll have opportunities for experiential learning, including managerial finance, international economics, portfolio management. In our Financial Markets Lab, you'll learn to use Bloomberg Terminals to analyze financial data and metrics. You'll even have a keycard to access the lab at any time.

You'll have internship and study abroad opportunities. You'll be part of the Lipscomb team that competes against other universities in the TVA Investment Challenge. You and your team will manage a portfolio of securities on TVA's behalf. Each team competing will be responsible for security selection, portfolio balancing and other fund management decisions. With rigorous and relevant curriculum, chances for hands-on learning and real-life experience, you'll have the foundation you need to thrive.

Master the ins and outs of the restaurant industry, from human resources to food production. Our seasoned faculty will develop both your strategic and creative skills and guide you as you explore your career options. Plus, our Christian worldview informs our approach to hospitality — learn how and why food systems management is a form of ministry.  

From this program, you can go on to culinary school, restaurant management and nonprofit management — with a firm foundation in business, since you’ll automatically earn a business minor. You'll get a high quality education in medical surgical courses and all specialty areas including: critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and community-based learning. And our graduates are successful — in fact, 100 percent of nurses who graduated from our program are working in their health care careers. Research shows 79.6 percent of employers want BSN-prepared nurses. And lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors and positive outcomes are an outcome of nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level (AACN, Oct. 2017).
