Physics teaching majors will receive core and specialized professional education in addition to the general education required of secondary and K-12 teacher education students.

Our graduates are in demand in every facet of chemistry and biochemistry. And that includes the medical, industrial, governmental, educational and nonprofit sectors. By the way, more than 50 percent of our biochemistry graduates have earned doctorate degrees. So get started with us — choose the degree path that is right for you. There's no capstone required for our biochemistry majors. But most of our students take part in undergraduate research at Lipscomb, at major research universities — or both. It's common for graduates of both of our biochemistry degrees to get into recognized research universities and medical schools across the U.S. Whatever your goals are, we'll help you get there.

We're always looking at what's on the horizon in health care so that you'll be ready to adapt to technological advances in nursing. You'll get a high quality education in medical surgical courses and all specialty areas including: critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and community-based learning. And our graduates are successful — in fact, 100 percent of nurses who graduated from our program are working in their health care careers. Research shows 79.6 percent of employers want BSN-prepared nurses. And lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors and positive outcomes are an outcome of nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level (AACN, Oct. 2017).

Prepare yourself for the career of your choice with our customizable biology degree. Our faculty are world-class scientists who stay current in their field as the world of science evolves.
Let us ready you to be a middle or high school teacher. As a biology teaching major, you'll get to network during clinical practice classes, which will set you up for employment by graduation. You'll have the chance to go to the Tennessee Science Teachers Association meeting or the National Science Teachers Association meeting. You'll get to learn about teaching ideas, influential research and network with other science teachers from across the U.S.

Biology teaching majors receive the same core as biology (general) majors. A special course developed only for those pursuing teaching is Methods of Teaching Biology. This is a 3 hour course usually taken with Clinical Practice II, which combines content with pedagogy. In this course, students learn not only their craft but also have time structured for edTPA, safety in the classroom and grant writing.

Teaching (Chemistry - Teaching)
If the teaching field is your path, you'll gain an excellent background in chemistry as well as the educational knowledge you need to prepare for your own students. Chemistry teachers are in demand. Our students are regularly recruited. They move on to be educational administrators - headmasters, principals, and assistant principals.

Explore your creative potential by broadening your skills in various art forms. In our studio art program, you’ll be exposed to mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, videography, and printmaking. With a wide range of artistic knowledge, you’ll be prepared to influence and better the world through art.

You’ll learn from faculty who have a wealth of experience in artistic mediums and international exhibitions, in an environment that integrates faith and work. Gain 24/7 access to our studios, meet with exhibiting artists in our on-campus John C. Hutcheson gallery and during master classes, and exhibit your own art at our off-campus, student-run Open gallery in downtown Nashville.
