Take advantage of our study abroad program in the heart of Europe — Vienna, Austria. And grow in the Spirit with a special Bible course where you'll visit the Amish and also learn about the German Christian resistance in World War II.  You'll interact with important figures in German life, from business and politics to the music industry, international relations and education. The global learning experience you receive here will provide you the confidence you need as a K-12 teacher or a business professional.

The economy of today requires versatile, nimble minds who can adjust to the constantly changing landscapes of the global economy and the shuffle that occurs within industries and places.  History majors are ideal for this world as they have faced the challenges of the past with the great writers, ideas, figures, and events. We have pledged ourselves to making history accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in History curriculum serves our students' need to know the contours of progress and culture. Our 36-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the history major to their primary field of study.

Perhaps more than ever, there’s a need for reliable news sources throughout our world. Professional storytellers are needed — and we can help you become one. Learn to tell stories as a part of a traditional newsroom, as a freelancer in new environments or as a writer for broadcast, online and print outlets. You will learn how to create documentaries and videos, produce interactive media content, and write in captivating ways.

Our graduates boast a 96 percent placement rate in the field, and that begins here. Our experienced faculty will guide and mentor you, so that you can create experiences tailored to your interests. You will have the opportunity to work for Lumination Network, our in-house, student news organization. Help others adopt a healthier lifestyle through diet and nutrition. Our accredited undergraduate dietetics program is designed to provide a high-quality education with a Christian perspective.

Take courses from a variety of disciplines to gain a holistic, practical knowledge of dietetics. Learn about where food comes from, how its preparation affects its nutritional value and how it is processed by the human body. Apply your skills in community service and engagement.

So we've created a program to help you build a foundation in justice so you can do exactly that. We know legal change is one of the best ways to effect social change, so we'll make sure you gain a strong understanding of America's legal system. Work with a prominent civil rights attorney in Tuskegee, Alabama. You'll visit Washington, D.C. for an introduction of American law. Learn from real-life experiences with an internship. Take a semester abroad. And later, you'll even travel to five European countries as you learn about law in the global community.

In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor projects that the employment growth of social workers will grow 16 percent from 2016 to 2026. According to the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, social workers are the nation’s largest group of mental health providers. And, over 40 percent of all disaster mental health volunteers trained by the Red Cross are social workers.

Explore the complex and compelling relationships among languages, literature, and cultures. Engage in critical thinking and discussion with peers and faculty who will challenge your worldview, whether you’re debating gender theory or interpreting poetry.

If you choose the teaching route, you will be prepared in the areas of classroom management and intercultural competence along with literature, writing, cultural studies and communication core studies. A diverse set of local schools will welcome you in and provide you with hands-on learning opportunities.

The coursework in the English Teaching program is designed to provide you with foundational literary and educational concepts, practical field experience, and a broad understanding of textual genres, historical periods, composition/rhetoric, and the cultural significance of relevant writers and their texts. The program also allows you to learn from on-site teachers in a diverse range of public and private schools in the Nashville area. The specific content areas for literature include surveys of American, British, and world literatures as well as more narrowly focused seminars, which prepare you for the required content you will be teaching.

Teaching (Chemistry - Teaching)
If the teaching field is your path, you'll gain an excellent background in chemistry as well as the educational knowledge you need to prepare for your own students. Chemistry teachers are in demand.
