The Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and minor program offer students unique access to the exciting, high-powered fashion industry.

Instructed by industry experts, the Fashion Merchandising curriculum integrates an experiential learning component through our student-run clothing boutique, The Student Body, where you will contribute to the retail store’s success by helping to choose inventory, manage operations, and advertise to the campus community. Secure internship positions at top locations such as Long Island’s luxurious Americana Manhasset shopping center and other top destinations.

The 120-credit B.S. in Health Sciences is a science-based major designed for freshman and transfer students who aspire to careers in a variety of health-related fields, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, pharmacy, physician assistant, medical imaging or health information management.

The Department of Teaching and Learning offers a highly respected dual undergraduate major in health education and physical education that prepares you to teach both disciplines in elementary, middle and high schools. The redesigned 127-credit 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in the Health Education and Physical Education program will provide you with greater career flexibility and will lead to New York State Initial Teaching Certification in two distinct disciplines.

Students in the program learn effective techniques of classroom management, curriculum design, and lesson planning for children in Kindergarten through Grade 12.  Liberal arts courses in biology equip you with knowledge in human anatomy and physiology.

The Health Education component examines nutrition, health care services, sexuality and family planning, personal well-being, and drugs in contemporary society. You will learn how to encourage children and teenagers, in a non-judgmental approach, to discuss their experiences, attitudes and values related to health issues.

The Physical Education portion shows you how to create a program that motivates children and adolescents to stay fit. You will learn how to organize movement activities, create rules and regulations, conduct lessons that allow for maximum practice opportunity, analyze student performance and identify sports-related injuries.

In both disciplines, you will gain extensive field-based experience through methods classes and student teaching in local school districts.

LIU Global offers a BA degree in Global Studies, a discipline that investigates the world’s interdependent political, economic, cultural, and ecological systems. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Studies at LIU Post is an excellent foundation for a career in dance performance, dance education or dance criticism. A pre-professional, process-based and performance-oriented program, this 120-credit degree explores the wide variety of roles for dance professionals and surveys the world’s great dance traditions, from African and Asian dance to modern, jazz, ballet and tap. Combining advanced education in dance and theatrical production with opportunities to develop specific skills through training and sustained practice, all in the context of a strong liberal arts program, the B.F.A. in Dance Studies teaches the art form and not just technique.

Our B.S. in Finance is powerful and practical. It affords a versatility that enables you to find work across nearly any industry and business size—from startups to nonprofits to government agencies to global corporations.

You will learn how to raise capital for corporations, as well as how to invest capital in real projects and securities such as stocks and bonds.

As a student, you will explore the pillars of the financial industry, including economic policy, commercial and investment banking, capital markets, global debt, private equity and venture capital, investments and portfolio optimization, corporate governance standards, securities regulation, and ethics.

Clinical Laboratory Scientists are highly skilled professionals who are qualified by passing the national certification examination and licensed by NY State to work in a several departments of a clinical laboratory including hematology, microbiology, immunohematology, chemistry, immunology and molecular diagnostics (CLS generalist). They play a key role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and illnesses. Using sophisticated laboratory analyzers, CLS generalists perform tests and analyze cells, blood and other body fluids to detect abnormalities. They are a vital source of diagnostic information to doctors who use the test results to determine and monitor a course of treatment for patients.

The B.S. CLS program and the corresponding MS CLS program, are accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS, 5600 N. River Rd., Suite 720, Rosemont, IL, 60018-5119; 773.714.8880; [email protected]), which is the national accrediting body for CLS programs. The goals of the programs are to exceed the NAACLS specified benchmarks for certification exam pass rate, graduation rate and employment rate. This program integrates a complex level of didactic theoretical and technical instruction. Following successful completion of the CLS didactic courses, students are selected for the practicum by competitively placement into clinical sites contracted with LIU Post- a list of the sites is shown below. Students successfully completing the practicum are eligible to take the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) national certification examinations for a CLS generalist. Certification is necessary for employment nation-wide and is required for licensure in New York State. Conferral of the B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science degree is not contingent upon passing a certification or licensure exam.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing incorporates state-of-the-art technology integrating high fidelity simulated patients, electronic patient record systems, and patient-centered care. Our undergraduate degree program allows students who are passionate about healthcare to enter the marketplace with a level of tech-driven professional experience that meet current industry standards.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Arts with a concentration in Acting provides personalized and intensive classroom instruction and stage experience to prepare students for acting careers. Students receive a rigorous grounding in history, literature, theories and methodologies of classical and contemporary theatre arts, and work with professional actors and playwrights. Students also have a variety of opportunities to perform in main stage productions directed by renowned New York City directors. The 120-credit program is selective and acceptance into the program requires an audition.

The acting concentration draws from the Suzuki, Stanislavsky, Chekhov and Linklater techniques. The core program, taught by professional theatre artists, emphasizes development of a riveting stage presence based on dynamic physicality, emotional authenticity and a commanding voice. Students receive individual and ensemble training in television and film acting, singing and dancing from artists of national and international renown.

The Master of Health Administration degree, provides the comprehensive curriculum needed to succeed as a manager or leader in a highly complex, competitive and ever-changing health care environment. This 42-credit program examines both practical and theoretical problems and challenges in the field, and provides an understanding of a wide range of topics including organizational structures, health care policy analysis and healthcare management.

The M.H.A. program at LIU Post prepares students for service in executive and managerial-level positions public, nonprofit, and health care organizations. Our graduates are currently serving in the hospitals and health care practices; local and national nonprofits; and local, state, and federal government positions.
