LIU Global offers a BA degree in Global Studies, a discipline that investigates the world’s interdependent political, economic, cultural, and ecological systems. Global Studies equips future leaders with tools to address challenges that transcend national and disciplinary boundaries, preparing them to develop solutions at the local, national, regional, and global levels. LIU Global organizes its curriculum around six issues that pose the greatest challenges to human wellbeing:

• Economic inequality, poverty, and access to livelihoods
• Social inequality: gender, race, ethnicity, and human development
• Climate change, clean energy, and environmental degradation
• Urbanization and sustainable human settlements
• War, conflict, and displaced peoples
• Justice, discrimination, and human rights

LIU Global teaches students how these challenges take different forms in different locations, thereby developing skills in adaptation and empathy as each locale articulates the particularity of its engagement with these issues. By addressing each issue through multiple lenses, students gain the skills in analysis and problem-solving that these complex challenges demand. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production (MTEP) is designed to provide professional training for students who aim to succeed as creative entrepreneurs in the music industry. The program features a practical teaching and learning approach grounded in the real world of music production and marketing, and follows a learning community/cohort model that places peer collaboration and interdisciplinarity at the center of the educational experience

Comprising courses from the Schools of Performing Arts; Visual Arts, Communications, and Digital Technologies; Business; and the College of Liberal Arts, the MTEP curriculum ensures that students develop facility with a variety of technologies designed to create, produce, distribute, and promote music.

As a student in this program, you will work with professionals in the music industry through internships and guest artist residencies as well as projects associated with Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, the T. Denny Sanford Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, and local recording studios.

Our B.S. in Finance is powerful and practical. It affords a versatility that enables you to find work across nearly any industry and business size—from startups to nonprofits to government agencies to global corporations.

You will learn how to raise capital for corporations, as well as how to invest capital in real projects and securities such as stocks and bonds.

As a student, you will explore the pillars of the financial industry, including economic policy, commercial and investment banking, capital markets, global debt, private equity and venture capital, investments and portfolio optimization, corporate governance standards, securities regulation, and ethics.

Imagine the satisfaction of helping a child say his/her first words to his/her family or caregiver, or assisting an adult stroke patient to communicate with his family and friends. With the specialized, advanced training provided by the 58-credit Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology you will be equipped for a career diagnosing and treating a wide range of speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders. 

The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in speech-language pathology at LIU Post is designed to mentor and educate students to become competent, caring, qualified and accountable speech-language pathologists who in turn will be well equipped to serve clients in a culturally and linguistically diverse society. Our goal is to provide students with a comprehensive program, built upon a sound theoretical foundation in speech, language and hearing sciences, in which clinical skill development is integrated. Educational and clinical experiences will be guided by a strong adherence to evidence based practice.  Strong clinical reasoning, decision making, and communication skills will be developed through training and supervised practice.  Students will be required to demonstrate high standards of competency and ethical conduct within the scope of professional practice. An important element in our training of MA candidates includes inter-professional educational opportunities where students can learn from and work closely with other disciplines. Simulated experiences at our state of the art Simlab and with computerized simulators assists students to be prepared for clinical interaction and to practice their skills. We seek to guide our students through the program by providing advisement, instruction, as well as clinical and intellectual challenges. Our program goals are both formative and summative in accordance with standards of our professional accrediting organization, the Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completion of the program our students will be prepared to function in our pluralistic society as speech-language pathologists working alongside allied health professionals and educators in a variety of settings serving the needs of children and adults throughout the lifespan. In terms of employment, our graduates have enjoyed a high employment rate in a variety of pediatric and adult sites on Long Island, New York City and across the country.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Arts with a concentration in Acting provides personalized and intensive classroom instruction and stage experience to prepare students for acting careers. Students receive a rigorous grounding in history, literature, theories and methodologies of classical and contemporary theatre arts, and work with professional actors and playwrights. Students also have a variety of opportunities to perform in main stage productions directed by renowned New York City directors. The 120-credit program is selective and acceptance into the program requires an audition.

The acting concentration draws from the Suzuki, Stanislavsky, Chekhov and Linklater techniques. The core program, taught by professional theatre artists, emphasizes development of a riveting stage presence based on dynamic physicality, emotional authenticity and a commanding voice. Students receive individual and ensemble training in television and film acting, singing and dancing from artists of national and international renown.

Mental health counselors work with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental and emotional disorders and to promote mental health. They are trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to address issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, and grief. They also help with job and career concerns, educational decisions, mental and emotional health issues, and relationship problems. In addition, they may be involved in community outreach, advocacy, and mediation activities. Some specialize in delivering mental health services for the elderly. Mental health counselors often work closely with other mental health specialists, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, and school counselors. Mental health counselors work in community health and social service organizations, day treatment programs, outpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, or private practice.

The 60-credit M.S. in Mental Health Counseling provides students with core knowledge to be effective helpers in a variety of clinical settings. The program covers professional issues and ethics, counseling theories, human development, counseling skills, group work, assessment and career development. Building upon these core content areas, the mental health counseling program focuses specifically on the development of knowledge and skills necessary to work in a variety of clinical settings, such as: foundations of mental health counseling; research; evidence-based practice; program evaluation; psychopathology and psychopharmacology.

The Department of Biomedical, Health and Nutritional Sciences prepares students to become knowledgeable professionals dedicated to the highest standards of science and health care.

The MS Program in Biomedical Sciences offers a curriculum well suited to those who wish to work in a research laboratory, individuals seeking acceptance into post-graduate professional schools (e.g., medical or dental school) and students seeking a career in basic science research who are planning to continue in doctoral programs. Students are taught by expert faculty specializing in the fields of microbiology, hematology, immunology and clinical biochemistry. Students may join the laboratories of faculty and acquire excellent research experience.

The M.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science program is a 52- credit program requiring a 6-month full-time clinical placement. Students may begin as part-time but will require a full-time commitment in order to complete this graduate degree program.

Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) are highly skilled laboratory professionals who are qualified by national certification and NYS licensure to work in several areas of a clinical laboratory, including hematology, microbiology, immunohematology, chemistry, immunology and molecular diagnostics (CLS generalist). They play a key role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and illnesses. Using sophisticated laboratory equipment, CLS generalists perform tests and analyze cells, blood and other body fluids to detect abnormalities. They are a vital source of diagnostic information to doctors who use the test results to determine and monitor a course of treatment for patients.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics prepares graduates for rewarding careers as nutritionists, dietitians, wellness experts, food service managers, and community counselors. The four-year, 120-credit program provides students with a basic liberal arts and strong science education, and the knowledge required to understand nutrition. Students take courses in biology, chemistry and statistics and master such subjects as normal nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, institutional food service management, cultural and social aspects of food, energy and exercise, and food technology. The program also prepares students to apply their knowledge of nutrition to promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices among individuals and groups as well as those with special nutritional needs. The goal of the program is to develop a graduate who meets the foundation knowledge and skills required by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

As a Film major, you will learn to communicate and interpret the world around you through courses in all levels of production, editing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound, producing, and film history.

Beginning in your first semester, you will get hands-on experience working with traditional and digital film equipment and exploring all forms of narrative and documentary storytelling. The comprehensive, widely respected film curriculum prepares students for creative, critical, and technical work in the worlds of film, television, and digital media. In addition, you will study a well-rounded liberal arts foundation that will help develop proficiency in areas of human development: self-discipline, self-motivation, creative thinking, critical analysis, collaboration as part of a group, and leadership in a group.
