Instructed by industry experts, the Fashion Merchandising curriculum integrates an experiential learning component through our student-run clothing boutique, The Student Body, where you will contribute to the retail store’s success by helping to choose inventory, manage operations, and advertise to the campus community. The Master of Science in Nutrition prepares students to assume leadership positions in the nutrition field. The program is designed to enhance professional qualifications as a food and nutrition specialist. Challenging courses for the advanced study of nutrition are provided. The student chooses various electives to complement a core curriculum of nutrition science, research methods, biomedical statistics as well as communication, education and counseling skills. A choice of challenging electives enables students to pursue individual interests. Students also complete a research project as a culminating experience of the degree.

The Theatre Arts programs are designed to help you place theatre within the wider context of humanistic studies. The curriculum covers the broad-based study of theatre history and literature, acting, dance, design, directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, management and technical production. Classes are small and faculty members provide a supportive environment for you to develop as an individual artist.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics prepares graduates for rewarding careers as nutritionists, dietitians, wellness experts, food service managers, and community counselors. The four-year, 120-credit program provides students with a basic liberal arts and strong science education, and the knowledge required to understand nutrition. Students take courses in biology, chemistry and statistics and master such subjects as normal nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, institutional food service management, cultural and social aspects of food, energy and exercise, and food technology. The program also prepares students to apply their knowledge of nutrition to promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices among individuals and groups as well as those with special nutritional needs. The goal of the program is to develop a graduate who meets the foundation knowledge and skills required by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The 120-credit Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education/Early Childhood prepares you to become a knowledgeable, caring and inspiring teacher of childhood and early childhood education from infants and toddlers to children who are in the first through sixth grades.

In pursuing your undergraduate degree, you will examine theories of child development, motivation and learning for youngsters ranging from infants to Grade 6. You will master the skills needed to encourage students to learn new material and to take responsibility for themselves and one another. As you work toward this degree you will gain an understanding and appreciation of subjects ranging from science to music to language arts. You also will acquire techniques to assess and evaluate a child’s intellectual, social and physical development and learn the basic principles of classroom management for a diverse student population. The program will culminate in a semester-long student teaching experience that will allow you to practice your new skills in a classroom setting. This degree qualifies you for two New York State Initial Teaching Certification.

After you complete all degree requirements, successfully pass New York State Licensure tests (EAS, CST and edTPA) and you have completed all required teacher certification workshops, you will be awarded Initial teaching certification by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) in Childhood and Early Childhood Education.
