The 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Social Work will prepare you to enter the workforce, launching a career of helping people cope with life’s challenges and advocating for a just society, as well as continuing to graduate-level education.  We offer liberal arts-based, relationship-centered education where students form close connections with their professors and each other. The curriculum includes courses related to policy, practice, human development and social systems’ behavior, research as well as practicum-related seminars. Students learn the social work foundation of knowledge, skills and values through small class engagement with stimulating topics, role plays, case studies, videos, TED talks, close reading and reflective writing. They engage (in the Junior and Senior years) infield practice in diverse settings including schools, homeless shelters, child and family counseling centers, charitable organizations, senior citizen facilities and social service agencies. Beyond the classroom and field placement, we offer a very active student club, which provides you with opportunities for numerous exciting community service activities.

Students that pursue the 120-credit B.F.A. degree in Digital Art and Design have a variety of exciting career paths available to them. The program is intended to prepare students for successful careers in Graphic Design for Print, Web Design, Animation, and UX Interaction Design. The mission of the program is to impart fundamental knowledge of design and nurture the technical and creative skills necessary for graduates to secure opportunities as professional designers. Our plan of study provides students with comprehensive experience in industry-standard design software and introduces them to the different career paths they can pursue in various fields of design.

LIU Global offers a BA degree in Global Studies, a discipline that investigates the world’s interdependent political, economic, cultural, and ecological systems. Global Studies equips future leaders with tools to address challenges that transcend national and disciplinary boundaries, preparing them to develop solutions at the local, national, regional, and global levels. LIU Global organizes its curriculum around six issues that pose the greatest challenges to human wellbeing:

• Economic inequality, poverty, and access to livelihoods
• Social inequality: gender, race, ethnicity, and human development
• Climate change, clean energy, and environmental degradation
• Urbanization and sustainable human settlements
• War, conflict, and displaced peoples
• Justice, discrimination, and human rights

LIU Global teaches students how these challenges take different forms in different locations, thereby developing skills in adaptation and empathy as each locale articulates the particularity of its engagement with these issues. By addressing each issue through multiple lenses, students gain the skills in analysis and problem-solving that these complex challenges demand. Imagine the satisfaction of helping a child say his/her first words to his/her family or caregiver, or assisting an adult stroke patient to communicate with his family and friends. With the specialized, advanced training provided by the 58-credit Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology you will be equipped for a career diagnosing and treating a wide range of speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders. 

The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in speech-language pathology at LIU Post is designed to mentor and educate students to become competent, caring, qualified and accountable speech-language pathologists who in turn will be well equipped to serve clients in a culturally and linguistically diverse society. Our goal is to provide students with a comprehensive program, built upon a sound theoretical foundation in speech, language and hearing sciences, in which clinical skill development is integrated. Educational and clinical experiences will be guided by a strong adherence to evidence based practice.  Strong clinical reasoning, decision making, and communication skills will be developed through training and supervised practice.  Students will be required to demonstrate high standards of competency and ethical conduct within the scope of professional practice. An important element in our training of MA candidates includes inter-professional educational opportunities where students can learn from and work closely with other disciplines. Simulated experiences at our state of the art Simlab and with computerized simulators assists students to be prepared for clinical interaction and to practice their skills. We seek to guide our students through the program by providing advisement, instruction, as well as clinical and intellectual challenges. Our program goals are both formative and summative in accordance with standards of our professional accrediting organization, the Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completion of the program our students will be prepared to function in our pluralistic society as speech-language pathologists working alongside allied health professionals and educators in a variety of settings serving the needs of children and adults throughout the lifespan. In terms of employment, our graduates have enjoyed a high employment rate in a variety of pediatric and adult sites on Long Island, New York City and across the country.

Behavior analysis is a well-developed approach to solving social/emotional, behavioral, and learning problems for many different populations in many different settings. The Department of Psychology's master's program in Behavior Analysis focuses on the experimental, theoretical, methodological, and analysis of behaviors of individuals and how these behaviors denote different types of learning processes or problems. The processes of behavior analysis are used most widely with clinical populations in the area of developmental disabilities, including but not limited to clients diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum and/or intellectually impaired.

The Sports Management program trains students in all aspects of sports management and places them at the doorstep of the most successful and lucrative businesses in the sports world. Students will study a variety of disciplines, including business, marketing, communications and management, and will gain industry-specific skills, such as representation, administration, branding, event planning, and public relations.

As a Film major, you will learn to communicate and interpret the world around you through courses in all levels of production, editing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound, producing, and film history.

Beginning in your first semester, you will get hands-on experience working with traditional and digital film equipment and exploring all forms of narrative and documentary storytelling. The comprehensive, widely respected film curriculum prepares students for creative, critical, and technical work in the worlds of film, television, and digital media. In addition, you will study a well-rounded liberal arts foundation that will help develop proficiency in areas of human development: self-discipline, self-motivation, creative thinking, critical analysis, collaboration as part of a group, and leadership in a group.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production (MTEP) is designed to provide professional training for students who aim to succeed as creative entrepreneurs in the music industry. The program features a practical teaching and learning approach grounded in the real world of music production and marketing, and follows a learning community/cohort model that places peer collaboration and interdisciplinarity at the center of the educational experience

Comprising courses from the Schools of Performing Arts; Visual Arts, Communications, and Digital Technologies; Business; and the College of Liberal Arts, the MTEP curriculum ensures that students develop facility with a variety of technologies designed to create, produce, distribute, and promote music.

As a student in this program, you will work with professionals in the music industry through internships and guest artist residencies as well as projects associated with Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, the T. Denny Sanford Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, and local recording studios.

In the Department of Criminal Justice, undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to meet the constant demand for law enforcement and criminal justice professionals. Our programs also provide an excellent pathway toward the study of law.

Our core curriculum thoroughly explores the theory and practice of the criminal justice system. But you will customize your study through elective courses that focus on a particular area of interest. Our full-time faculty is an internationally renowned group of academic professionals, and our adjunct professors are working criminal justice professionals, including attorneys, judges and law enforcement officials.

The Art Therapy programs in the Department of Art explore the interaction of the visual arts with psychological theories and practice.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Art Therapy provides training for undergraduate students who wish to use their creative skills in a variety of health care environments. The program emphasizes preparation for graduate training in clinical art therapy.
