Students pursuing this concentration have the opportunity to take courses in “Academic Writing” (expository, argumentative, creative writing), “Performance Writing” (screenplays, teleplays), “Writing for the Marketplace” (business, public relations), and “Rhetorical Theory” (ancient and modern).

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in Criminal Justice is designed to meet the demands for professionals working in policing, corrections, prosecution and pretrial services, probation, parole, juveniles, public safety, victim services, civil and family courts, homeland security, international security, and other related fields. In addition to our core curriculum, which thoroughly explores the theory and practice of the criminal justice system, you can choose from elective courses that focus on a particular area of interest. The curriculum will expose you to the latest trends in theory and technology that impact criminal justice.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Arts with a concentration in Musical Theatre provides personalized and intensive classroom instruction and stage experience to prepare students for performance careers in Musical Theatre. Students receive a rigorous grounding in history, literature, theories and methodologies of classical and contemporary theatre arts, and work with professional musicians, actors and playwrights. Students also have a variety of opportunities to perform in main stage productions directed by renowned New York City directors. The 120-credit program is selective and acceptance into the program requires an audition.

The musical theatre concentration draws from the Suzuki, Stanislavsky, Chekhov and Linklater techniques with concentrated study in techniques and approaches to musical theatre. The core program, taught by professional theatre artists, emphasizes development of a riveting stage presence based on dynamic physicality, emotional authenticity and a commanding voice.

The Master of Science in Nutrition prepares students to assume leadership positions in the nutrition field. The program is designed to enhance professional qualifications as a food and nutrition specialist. Challenging courses for the advanced study of nutrition are provided. The student chooses various electives to complement a core curriculum of nutrition science, research methods, biomedical statistics as well as communication, education and counseling skills. A choice of challenging electives enables students to pursue individual interests. Students also complete a research project as a culminating experience of the degree.

Students have opportunities for internships at the Big Four accounting firms, as well as mid-sized and small firms. In addition, the LIU Post Accounting Society and the Kappa Omicron Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi bring together practicing accounting professionals and accounting majors through formal and informal events throughout the year. It is common for students in the program to have offers of full-time employment even before graduating. Alumni of this program can be found in positions of leadership at major New York-based accounting and business services firms.

The Theatre Arts programs are designed to help you place theatre within the wider context of humanistic studies. The curriculum covers the broad-based study of theatre history and literature, acting, dance, design, directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, management and technical production. Classes are small and faculty members provide a supportive environment for you to develop as an individual artist.

The 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Political Science is an individualized, interdisciplinary program designed for students interested in a liberal arts approach to the contemporary world. You will graduate from this program with a well-rounded knowledge of political theory, American government, international relations, comparative government and public administration.
