Mechanical Engineering Technology
The Engineering Technology Council of the American Society for Engineering Education defines Engineering Technology as the profession in which knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences gained by higher education, experience, and practices is devoted primarily to the implementation and extension of existing technology for the benefit of humanity. Engineering technology focuses on the applied aspects of science and engineering to prepare graduates for practice in product improvement, manufacturing, and engineering operational functions. Engineering technologists are suited for industries that deal with application, manufacturing, implementation, engineering operation, sales, and production.

What Will I Learn

Geographic Information Science
The geographic information science degree programs enable students to apply computing, physical science, and mathematical principles (including multivariate calculus and differential equations) to design and build physical systems to model the Earth. Our students are educated to gather geospatial data via remote sensing and land surveying then convert this data, along with other geospatial data resources, into manageable digital maps and databases for display and analysis.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will be prepared with knowledge and skills for a variety of career paths related to the acquisition, analysis, and management of geospatial data and information. Career paths include education towards advanced degrees and employment in the fields of geomatics and geographic information systems.

Atmospheric Science
The Bachelor of Science program in Atmospheric Sciences addresses the needs of students interested in studying meteorology or climate science. The program provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the physical characteristics, motions and processes of air; as well as the interactions of this protective layer with the underlying oceans and continents. The undergraduate program emphasizes a systems approach, combining traditional atmospheric sciences with emerging fields. In particular, the program focuses on the fields of tropical meteorology and oceanography that are directly linked to the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding coastal regions where the university is strategically located.

The Master of Science in Early Childhood Education is a degree designed for individuals who are currently working with young children or are desiring to work with young children in an educational setting. Courses are structured to increase the educator’s knowledge of young children and the ensuing implications for programs and curricula.

Teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators will improve their competence in designing curriculum, classrooms, centers, and classroom experiences for young children. Students will also improve their skills in evaluating instruction based on children’s needs, and develop techniques to appropriately evaluate young children’s learning.

Our program offers performance opportunities via a wide array of ensembles which are open to all university students, including university orchestra, symphonic and concert bands, pep band, jazz band, university singers, Camerata Isla (chamber choir), and Corpus Christi Chorale. Music majors also participate in chamber ensembles including string quartet, various woodwind and brass ensembles, percussion ensemble, guitar ensemble, and more.

The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with an emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.

Within this program, you’ll analyze a complex computing problem, and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. You’ll also design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. We encourage students to explore and integrate three disciplines of English studies in their work, through the study of literature, applied linguistics, and writing. We challenge students to analyze, think critically about, and compose texts across genres, language varieties, and traditions for communities across cultural and geographic boundaries. In our courses and community events, students develop the advanced critical and creative literacies and language-related skills that prepare them for their future as active and ethical members of diverse communities.
