Environmental science facilities include biological, geological and map collections as well as a wide array of field and laboratory equipment, and computer labs for GIS and modeling studies. This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline-based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

Geographic Information Science
The geographic information science degree programs enable students to apply computing, physical science, and mathematical principles (including multivariate calculus and differential equations) to design and build physical systems to model the Earth. Our students are educated to gather geospatial data via remote sensing and land surveying then convert this data, along with other geospatial data resources, into manageable digital maps and databases for display and analysis.

Within this program, you will be prepared with knowledge and skills for a variety of career paths related to the acquisition, analysis, and management of geospatial data and information. Career paths include education towards advanced degrees and employment in the fields of geomatics and geographic information systems.

The curriculum for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is designed to provide professional development at the undergraduate level in the visual arts, through in-depth study in studio art. The degree requires a minimum of 75 semester hours in art, at least 36 of which must be in upper-division coursework.

Atmospheric Science
The Bachelor of Science program in Atmospheric Sciences addresses the needs of students interested in studying meteorology or climate science. The program provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the physical characteristics, motions and processes of air; as well as the interactions of this protective layer with the underlying oceans and continents. The undergraduate program emphasizes a systems approach, combining traditional atmospheric sciences with emerging fields. In particular, the program focuses on the fields of tropical meteorology and oceanography that are directly linked to the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding coastal regions where the university is strategically located.
