The International Year is a 3-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. Music
Our program offers performance opportunities via a wide array of ensembles which are open to all university students, including university orchestra, symphonic and concert bands, pep band, jazz band, university singers, Camerata Isla (chamber choir), and Corpus Christi Chorale. Music majors also participate in chamber ensembles including string quartet, various woodwind and brass ensembles, percussion ensemble, guitar ensemble, and more.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of music. You’ll also understand music theory, history, literature, and culture. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your critical thinking skills when hearing musical sounds.

The MA in English program offers students an innovative curriculum, a dynamic faculty, and many opportunities for professional development. Our graduates continue into Ph.D. programs, become faculty at two year colleges, work in industry or in government service, and serve as highly successful teachers in the public schools. Our combination of a challenging curriculum and personalized attention ensures that our graduates are ready for a wide variety of careers.

The MA in English Program offers all candidates the opportunity to grow intellectually and creatively through the advanced study of language, literature, and writing.

The computer science degree program is applied in nature and is designed to prepare students to begin or advance computing careers in business, industry, government, or education, or to pursue further study in computer science. The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.

The mission of the computer science program is to educate undergraduate and graduate students in the principles of computer science and to extend the understanding and use of those principles by conducting research and service in support of the people and economy of south Texas, the state of Texas as a whole, and the nation, consistent with the program’s function within a Hispanic-serving institution. Accounting
The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting. Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of accounting. You’ll also understand key accounting theories and concepts, and will apply these accounting theories and concepts correctly. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your communication skills and be competent in business practices.

The Mays Business School offers a graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA). Enrollment in the Mays MBA Program and related courses is restricted to students in the classification G7 BUAD. A G6 student is not eligible to enroll in Mays MBA Program courses.

All core course enrollments are handled through the Mays MBA Program Office. Details regarding the Mays MBA Program curriculum may be obtained by contacting the MBA Program Office. The Mays MBA Program is a non-thesis degree for which a final oral examination is not required. Admission to the program is in the fall semester only. The Mays Business School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) at all program levels.

Criminal Justice
This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline-based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate an understanding of the operation and purposes of the major components of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections). You’ll also demonstrate the ability to critically analyze the criminal justice system and its aims and objectives. Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies principles of engineering, basic science, and mathematics (including multivariate calculus and differential equations) for modeling, analysis, design, and realization of physical systems, components or processes.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of the ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. You’ll also be able to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. With this degree you can function effectively on a team developing and conducting appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

The physics curriculum includes courses that provide a basic knowledge of the field of physics.

Physics courses are also offered in support of other major study areas in the sciences, mathematics, computer science, engineering and technology, and 8-12 level physical science teaching certification.

The Joint B.S. Physics degree is a Bachelor of Science degree with a Physics major, provided through the joint efforts of physics faculty both here at TAMUCC and at other schools in the Texas Physics Consortium (TPC).

Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineers develop electrical systems using knowledge of physics, mathematics, circuit design, electromagnetic theory, communication theory, control systems and signal processing. Electrical engineering historically involved how the generation, transmission and utilization of electrical energy.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data along with designing a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. You’ll also identify, formulate, solve engineering problems, and understand professional and ethical responsibility with an ability to communicate effectively. As part of this degree, you’ll be able to analyze and design complex electrical and electronic devices, software and systems containing hardware and software components.
