The computer science degree program is applied in nature and is designed to prepare students to begin or advance computing careers in business, industry, government, or education, or to pursue further study in computer science. The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.

The mission of the computer science program is to educate undergraduate and graduate students in the principles of computer science and to extend the understanding and use of those principles by conducting research and service in support of the people and economy of south Texas, the state of Texas as a whole, and the nation, consistent with the program’s function within a Hispanic-serving institution. Degree options include:

Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineers develop electrical systems using knowledge of physics, mathematics, circuit design, electromagnetic theory, communication theory, control systems and signal processing. Electrical engineering historically involved how the generation, transmission and utilization of electrical energy.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data along with designing a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. You’ll also identify, formulate, solve engineering problems, and understand professional and ethical responsibility with an ability to communicate effectively. As part of this degree, you’ll be able to analyze and design complex electrical and electronic devices, software and systems containing hardware and software components.

Criminal Justice
This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline-based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate an understanding of the operation and purposes of the major components of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections). You’ll also demonstrate the ability to critically analyze the criminal justice system and its aims and objectives. The management major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for general management, human resource management, health care positions, and entrepreneurship.

Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of management. You’ll be able to demonstrate knowledge of key management theories and concepts, and will apply these Management theories and concepts correctly.

The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting. Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of accounting. You’ll also understand key accounting theories and concepts, and will apply these accounting theories and concepts correctly. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your communication skills and be competent in business practices.

Physics
The Joint B.S. Physics degree is a Bachelor of Science degree with a Physics major, provided through the joint efforts of physics faculty both here at TAMUCC and at other schools in the Texas Physics Consortium (TPC).

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of physics. You’ll be able to understand scientific methods and be able use them to develop and conduct studies of physical systems. You will also be able to communicate physical information effectively at the undergraduate level, whether the communication is in oral or written form, with or without the use of technology.

The student who wishes to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry may do so by following one of the four curriculum plans referred to as Concentrations. The options include general, environmental, biochemistry, and physical science education concentrations. Students who are pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, or pre-veterinary medicine may follow the biochemistry concentration. In addition, the biochemistry concentration offers an option which would allow students to pursue certification in clinical chemistry while obtaining their Bachelors in Chemistry.

Physics
The Joint B.S. Physics degree is a Bachelor of Science degree with a Physics major, provided through the joint efforts of physics faculty both here at TAMUCC and at other schools in the Texas Physics Consortium (TPC).

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of physics. You’ll be able to understand scientific methods and be able use them to develop and conduct studies of physical systems. The Pre-Master's Program is a 1-semester program, designed to help international students fully prepare for entry to a graduate degree program. During your studies you will work alongside experienced faculty to discover your potential in your field.

Your program will be a combination of core, English for Academic Purposes courses, and academic courses specific to your chosen degree. These courses have been specially designed to provide international students with the academic and English language skills required to help you succeed in your graduate degree.

Master of Business Administration
The Master of Business Administration degree will help you to develop your skills in communication and leadership so you can graduate as an effective leader, capable of responsibly leading and ethically problem-solving.

The Master of Science in Professional Counseling (60 semester hours) offers training in three major areas:

• Addictions Counseling
• Clinical Mental Health Counseling
• Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling

Upon completion of the degree program, students will have met all relevant Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) educational requirements. Students who complete the marriage, couple, and family counseling emphasis will also meet Texas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) educational requirements. Each students’ personal and professional development is periodically reviewed by faculty. Students who fail to demonstrate basic knowledge, personal skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and/or counseling skills will be asked to seek remediation or may be dismissed from the program.

All counseling programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs.
