The International Year is a 2-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. Spanish
The main focus of the program is to develop the student’s language proficiency and the literary, cultural, practical application, and translation competencies demanded by many professional fields. To accomplish these goals, the Spanish curriculum includes courses in general Spanish Language, Spanish for the Professions, Hispanic Linguistics, Spanish and Spanish-American Literature and Civilizations, and Translation.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate advanced proficiency in Spanish through performance on examinations, in-class presentations, and research papers. You will also demonstrate the ability to understand, analyze, and interpret the cultural, linguistic and literary aspects of the Spanish-speaking countries through in-class presentations, examinations, and research papers. Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Highly interdisciplinary, the Coastal and Marine System Science (CMSS) degree program is designed to serve graduate students with diverse backgrounds in natural, computational & social sciences, and engineering. Ideal candidates will have backgrounds in some combination of biology, chemistry, geology, oceanography, computer science, mathematics, engineering, economics, policy, social, or geographic information science. The CMSS program focuses on integrative concepts that have emerged in recent years, linking natural sciences to social sciences.

System Science is a new discipline that seeks to understand the relationships between all of the variables affecting a given phenomenon. Graduates of the CMSS program will demonstrate proficiency in understanding and applying the concepts and principles of all of the natural sciences as well as a working competence in mathematical modeling and geospatial analysis.

With the increasing efficiency of real-time data collection, transfer, and processing, aided by autonomous observation systems such as satellite sensors, oceanic buoys, and remotely controlled or autonomous submersibles, Coastal and Marine System Science is at the forefront of extracting meaningful scientific results from large data sets in near real time.

Graduates of the CMSS program will demonstrate proficiency in understanding and applying the concepts and principles of all of the natural sciences as well as a working competence in mathematical modeling and geospatial analysis.

The Master of Science in Early Childhood Education is a degree designed for individuals who are currently working with young children or are desiring to work with young children in an educational setting. Courses are structured to increase the educator’s knowledge of young children and the ensuing implications for programs and curricula.

Teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators will improve their competence in designing curriculum, classrooms, centers, and classroom experiences for young children. Students will also improve their skills in evaluating instruction based on children’s needs, and develop techniques to appropriately evaluate young children’s learning.

Through the Master's in Early Childhood Education, teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators develop advanced expertise in designing curricula, classrooms, and experiences for young children. The Master's in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Science prepares professionals in the multi-faceted disciplines of athletic performance. These include biomechanics, exercise physiology, leadership/management of sport, motor performance, nutrition, assessment of sport performance, sport psychology, and strength & conditioning.
