The economics major is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the theory and applications of economics in preparation for their chosen profession. The economics curriculum offers an excellent preparation for graduate studies in law, economics and other business disciplines.

Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of economics. You’ll be able to demonstrate an understanding of contemporary economic theories and policy considerations in a domestic and international context. In addition, demonstrate the ability to identify relevant (valid, reliable, and important) information to the issue being studied.

Mathematics
The mission of the Mathematics Program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is to increase the knowledge and use of mathematics by persons both at the University and in the surrounding area. We strive to educate students at the university so that they are prepared to use mathematics intelligently in their chosen fields of study and to understand mathematics as it affects their lives and participation in public affairs.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of mathematics. You’ll be able to recognize mathematics outside the realm of the classroom, and apply undergraduate-level mathematical content as a matter of professional practice.

This is a dynamic department—with students studying human relationships, analyzing film and television, creating films, practicing public relations, writing for the student newspaper, and instructing others in communication.

Our students pursue degrees in communication studies or media arts with emphases in media studies or media production. We also have minors in communication studies, public relations, and digital journalism, as well as a teaching certificate in communication. Additionally, we have a Master of Arts in Communication.

Our professors and instructors include published authors, filmmakers, sought-after speakers, respected leaders, and award-winning educators. They love to teach and are constantly looking for ways to make the learning environment the best possible for our students.

Music
Our program offers performance opportunities via a wide array of ensembles which are open to all university students, including university orchestra, symphonic and concert bands, pep band, jazz band, university singers, Camerata Isla (chamber choir), and Corpus Christi Chorale. Music majors also participate in chamber ensembles including string quartet, various woodwind and brass ensembles, percussion ensemble, guitar ensemble, and more.

Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies principles of engineering, basic science, and mathematics (including multivariate calculus and differential equations) for modeling, analysis, design, and realization of physical systems, components or processes.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of the ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. You’ll also be able to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. With this degree you can function effectively on a team developing and conducting appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

The main focus of the program is to develop the student’s language proficiency and the literary, cultural, practical application, and translation competencies demanded by many professional fields. To accomplish these goals, the Spanish curriculum includes courses in general Spanish Language, Spanish for the Professions, Hispanic Linguistics, Spanish and Spanish-American Literature and Civilizations, and Translation.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate advanced proficiency in Spanish through performance on examinations, in-class presentations, and research papers. You will also demonstrate the ability to understand, analyze, and interpret the cultural, linguistic and literary aspects of the Spanish-speaking countries through in-class presentations, examinations, and research papers. Grounded in our academic tradition as a Hispanic Serving Institution, the undergraduate English Program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites students to engage with texts and employ language-related skills to connect with others both locally and globally.

We encourage students to explore and integrate three disciplines of English studies in their work, through the study of literature, applied linguistics, and writing. We challenge students to analyze, think critically about, and compose texts across genres, language varieties, and traditions for communities across cultural and geographic boundaries. In our courses and community events, students develop the advanced critical and creative literacies and language-related skills that prepare them for their future as active and ethical members of diverse communities.

It is a reasoned pursuit of fundamental truths, a quest for understanding, a study of principles of conduct. It seeks to establish standards of evidence, to provide rational methods of resolving conflicts, and to create techniques for evaluating ideas and arguments. Philosophy develops the capacity to see the world from the perspective of other individuals and other cultures; it enhances one's ability to perceive the relationships among the various fields of study; and it deepens one's sense of the meaning and variety of human experience.
