Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies
If you’re interested in educational and/or career goals and objectives that are not met specifically by one of the school’s traditional majors, the Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies program may be an option for you.

This type of major is considered an individualized education plan and may involve educational experiences in more than one school or college of the University. Contracts that involve advanced or specialized courses from more than one college are considered cross-college contract programs and must have the explicit approval of both schools or colleges. You may have the opportunity to take courses within business and communications, for example. You will have an opportunity to follow the common first year and second year as other engineering programs do.

Criminal Justice
Our criminal justice program focuses on the interdisciplinary view of crime and its control, including policing, crime prevention through personal change and community development. You develop broad skills and take classes in criminology, law, policing, sociology, and forensic studies.

Criminal justice courses are taught by faculty who have in-depth experience as criminal justice attorneys, gang unit and state police officers, medical examiners, and probation administrators. The program offers you opportunities to study within agencies dealing with crime and justice and take courses that study the full range of issues related to the social nature of crime, criminal law, and social control.

Biology

The BA degree in biology is designed to offer students a broad background in the biological sciences permitting more free electives than the BS program. Biology electives allow you to pursue a variety of specific interests that may lead to positions in government, industry, environmental fields, teaching, and health care professions. The BA degree may be combined with education courses for certification for teaching in the public schools.

Electromechanical Engineering Technology
Explore the technical side of engineering through the CEET program. Expand your skills through and design the program for your goals and interest through various coursework and five technical specialty electives. Its rigors emphasize conceptual problem-solving, technical expertise, meeting deadlines, and other professional practices. We stress drawing knowledge and skill as the basis for all visual conceptualization. This is applied to both traditional and digital mediums.

We’ll sharpen your professional standards through sophomore and junior reviews. Our program prepares you to work at a professional level, with a comprehensive understanding of illustration and the ability to merge your client’s needs with your personal style.

Marketing

The Marketing major includes core business classes, to give you a background in all areas of for-profit companies and nonprofits. Then, delve deeper into the marketing field with more specialized classes. You may also choose a concentration in International Marketing, Marketing Communications, Retailing, and Services Marketing to focus your career path. An internship ties it all together, giving you hands-on experience for your resume and skills to use in your first job.

Performing Arts Management
As a performing arts management major at Hartt, you will learn the skills to have a career in the performing arts of the commercial music business.  You are given the opportunity to concentrate in many different areas of management and business including the recording industry, touring, arts marketing, fundraising, for and non-profit management and entrepreneurial studies. Not only will you explore a variety of current problems inherent to the industry through classroom discussions, guest speakers, case studies and assignments, but also attend conferences and go on field trips to Connecticut arts institutions, as well as those in Boston and New York.

Core classes give you practical and hands-on experience including Arts Management Practicum and Internship, which enhance your leadership, teamwork and networking skills, while helping you grow personally and professionally. Recent students interned at The Bushnell Center for the Arts, The Newport Jazz Festival, Live Nation, City Parks Foundation, Tanglewood, Motema Records and many more.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree, your career-ready skills will be put to work at talent agencies, recording studios, performing arts centers, artist management companies, as well as professional dance and theatre companies.
