The International Pathway Program (IPP) is designed especially for international students who have proven their academic ability but need to strengthen their English skills to achieve positive results in the collegiate environment. Aerospace Engineering
Students pursuing the aerospace engineering program will develop in-demand skills in the fundamental science and technologies to create, develop, and improve aircraft and spacecraft.

Art History
The art history Bachelor of Arts program offers students a wide variety of courses that cover art from around the globe—Western, African, Mesoamerican, and Asian—and creative traditions in painting, sculpture, graphic arts, decorative arts, ritual objects, architecture, photography, design, performance, experimental media, and eco-art.

Special courses in museum and exhibition practices, in writing and research, and in the effects of cultural contact, migrations, and globalization on artistic traditions are offered to art history majors. Students are urged to study abroad and often take advantage of programs in Europe, Africa, Australia, and elsewhere around the globe.

Music Education
Hartt's Music Education Division offers you one of the nation's most comprehensive courses of study. Combining the rigors of conservatory training with a solid foundation in music education, the program prepares you for a career as an elementary and secondary school music educator. In addition to general music, choral music, wind and string instrumental pedagogy, music education majors receive training in such methodologies as Kodály, Suzuki, and Orff.

As an undergraduate, you will pursue a four-year instrumental or vocal emphasis. Students interested in jazz (saxophone, trumpet, and trombone) can pursue a double major in Music Education and Jazz Studies (5-year program). Please note that students interested in this double major must perform a jazz and classical audition because they will receive private instruction in both areas.

Illustration
Its rigors emphasize conceptual problem-solving, technical expertise, meeting deadlines, and other professional practices. We stress drawing knowledge and skill as the basis for all visual conceptualization. This is applied to both traditional and digital mediums.

We’ll sharpen your professional standards through sophomore and junior reviews. Our program prepares you to work at a professional level, with a comprehensive understanding of illustration and the ability to merge your client’s needs with your personal style.

Psychology
If you are interested in studying psychology and are planning a career in business, industry, education, health services, personnel work, or in any field involving human relations, the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program is for you. It’s also the first step if you are interested in becoming a psychologist, which requires graduate training after you complete the undergraduate major.

Saxophone
The study of saxophone at The Hartt School offers a competitive, collegial environment for students to challenge one another, fosters artistic growth, and instill the necessary skills to achieve success in the musical world.

Mathematics

Our Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics program gives you a strong math foundation, and the ability to choose from a number of mathematics electives to customize your curriculum. It’s a good fit if you are planning to pursue a career in business, education or technology and enjoy math!

Double Bass

At The Hartt School, you will join a tight-knit community of artists who are perfecting their craft. Through personal attention and mentorship from Hartt’s accomplished faculty members, you will develop innovative ideas and career ready skills. Learn about the double bass program at Hartt, including undergraduate and graduate admission and audition requirements and faculty information.

Double bass activities include

• Weekly private lessons (technical and musical development of traditional and contemporary techniques and repertoire, and orchestral music)
• Orchestra Repertoire Class (excerpts and the audition process)
• Scales/Technique Class (compliments the work done in private lessons on achieving technical mastery)
• Repertoire Class (explores all aspects of the double bass literature and history, by listening to recordings, looking at scores, and discussing various topics)

Mathematics Secondary Education

If you love math and want to teach, you can work in a classroom your very first semester. We have two magnet schools located on campus, so you can hone your teaching skills at both the elementary and secondary levels. These experiences will lead to:

If you are planning a career in research or plan to go on to graduate, medical, dental school then the Bachelor of Science in Biology program is recommended for you.
The curriculum includes a broad approach to biology and offers a comprehensive background in mathematics and the natural sciences.
