Criminal Justice
Criminal justice courses are taught by faculty who have in-depth experience as criminal justice attorneys, gang unit and state police officers, medical examiners, and probation administrators. The program offers you opportunities to study within agencies dealing with crime and justice and take courses that study the full range of issues related to the social nature of crime, criminal law, and social control.

Music Management
When you decide to major in music management, you have the desire to pursue a strong musical and business course of study.  Playing a musical instrument or being a vocalist is required for entrance to the program. This can include classical instruments or classical voice, jazz instruments or voice, or commercial instruments (bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, or voice.)  

You will receive training in music theory, piano and keyboard, and music history, as well as weekly one hour lessons and coaching sessions with teachers in the performance area.  This combined with arts management and business courses give you the career ready skills to enter the industry.

Not only will you participate in music management events, but you also have the opportunity to participate in many of the large ensembles that make up Hartt’s music training program.

Health Sciences - Pre-Pharmacy

The BS/PharmD is for the academically outstanding student with strong, realistic motivation toward the pharmacy profession. Initial study at the University of Hartford allows you to complete the general education and basic science requirements for the BS in health science degree and the prerequisites necessary for pharmacy school.

The BS degree is awarded by the University of Hartford following the successful completion of the first year of graduate study. Students who are not in the accelerated program typically complete the BS degree in four years at the University of Hartford.

Finance
The finance major gives you a foundation in corporate finance, investments, portfolio management, and international finance. And, pursue your interests in more specialized areas such as entrepreneurial finance, money and banking, portfolio management, and real estate finance.

Harp
Harp Ensemble, Repertoire and Studio Class and Harp Teaching Principles are just a few of the courses that harpists at Hartt partake in and enjoy. Orchestral and solo opportunities are many at Hartt, with monthly opportunities to perform solos or chamber music in the Evening with Guitar and Harp concert series. Hartt harpists are encouraged to partake in as many performance, competition and growth opportunities as possible, both in school, and in the vibrant capital region of Hartford.

Early Childhood Education
extensive professional preparation through core theory, site-based observations, real-world fieldwork experiences, and two student teaching semesters in area schools.

Entrepreneurial Studies
This interdisciplinary major gives you a background in many disciplines, including marketing, finance, accounting, and law. You will graduate with understanding of all aspects of business.

Gain hands-on experience by providing resources, training, and support to a local micro-business. You will complete a professional business plan to use to start your own venture. You may also choose to enter our annual Business Plan Competition. Our faculty advisors will help you every step of the way.

Data Science
If you enjoy using math and computers to analyze data that can be used to find solutions to real-world problems or to influence business decisions, our new Bachelor of Science in Data Science is a good fit for you! Data scientists are in high demand as corporations are increasingly reliant on data to make informed decisions. The overall well-being of a community is also dependent on the ability to process and interpret important data to help address a broad range of societal issues.

The Data Science program provides you with the analytical and quantitative skills that are needed for a variety of careers that are growing at a fast pace.

What work does a data scientist perform? They create new processes for data modeling, algorithms, predictive models, and custom analysis. The information they extract helps businesses and organizations solve complex problems. Data Science is an emerging field that has numerous applications in many career areas including the sciences, business, engineering, health sciences, social sciences, and even the music industry. In fact, data science can be used anywhere!

At UHart, you receive rigorous training in computational mathematics, statistical methods, as well as best practices in data visualization to prepare you for a career as a data scientist, data engineer, data analyst, data architect, or business intelligence specialist.

Health Sciences - Pre-Professional

The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. You can pursue the degree on a full- or part-time basis, and you can enter the program as a freshman or a transfer student.The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. If you’re interested in a career in health care but aren’t sure which area to pursue, the Health Sciences program may be a good fit for you. Health Sciences is also available as a minor.

Our health sciences program grounds you in the liberal arts with a firm foundation in the sciences, while providing a broad overview of the health care system. By majoring in health sciences, you can prepare for future study in a wide range of health care careers.

Although this is a non-clinical program, it will prepare you for graduate programs in fields such as medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, optometry, chiropractic, pharmacy, or podiatry.
