Music Education: Pedagogy
The Pedagogy emphasis enables the student to design coursework that will strengthen his/her understanding and application of effective teaching methods.

Biochemistry
Our Biochemistry program lets you study the chemistry of the living world and is great combination if you enjoy physical and chemical sciences.
The biochemistry curriculum is designed to help you pursue graduate work in chemistry or biology, and/or acquire the skills necessary for a career in healthcare and science, such as:

• Dentistry
• Medicine
• Pharmaceutical development
• Pharmacy
• Medical research
• Veterinary medicine

International Studies
At UHart, the world can be your classroom! Seventy-five percent of our international studies student study abroad for a semester, a year, or during our Winterterm or Summerterm.

You can concentrate in either global security or global development, and consider a double major in politics and government, economics, or modern languages and cultures.

If you are interested in a careers in government, business, education, the nonprofit sector, or certain areas of law, the international studies program gives you a solid foundation. It also is appropriate to prepare for graduate studies in a variety of fields.

Double Bass

At The Hartt School, you will join a tight-knit community of artists who are perfecting their craft. Through personal attention and mentorship from Hartt’s accomplished faculty members, you will develop innovative ideas and career ready skills. Learn about the double bass program at Hartt, including undergraduate and graduate admission and audition requirements and faculty information.

Double bass activities include

• Weekly private lessons (technical and musical development of traditional and contemporary techniques and repertoire, and orchestral music)
• Orchestra Repertoire Class (excerpts and the audition process)
• Scales/Technique Class (compliments the work done in private lessons on achieving technical mastery)
• Repertoire Class (explores all aspects of the double bass literature and history, by listening to recordings, looking at scores, and discussing various topics)

Marketing
The Marketing major includes core business classes, to give you a background in all areas of for-profit companies and nonprofits. Then, delve deeper into the marketing field with more specialized classes. You may also choose a concentration in International Marketing, Marketing Communications, Retailing, and Services Marketing to focus your career path. An internship ties it all together, giving you hands-on experience for your resume and skills to use in your first job.

Electromechanical Engineering Technology
Explore the technical side of engineering through the CEET program. Expand your skills through and design the program for your goals and interest through various coursework and five technical specialty electives. With this flexibility, you have the choice to advance programming skills or expand knowledge in areas like data acquisition and automated systems. You will also be trained to use industry-standard technology and software, to be well-prepared to start working full time after completing the program.

The electromechanical engineering technology (EMET) program was created in response to an industrial need to hire engineering technology graduates with abilities across electrical and mechanical disciplines. Students that complete this program are prepared for careers in fields such as control systems, automation, manufacturing and Industry 4.0. As of January 2021, the program is one of 12 Bachelor of Science in Electromechanical Engineering Technology programs in the United States that has ABET accreditation. Additionally, as of January 2021, the program is one of 11 programs recognized by the Automation Federation in their Automation Industry Competency Model.

Oboe
The overall size of the woodwind department and instrumental studios provides each student significant individual attention and performance opportunities. Whether you aspire to work as a professional performer, music educator, producer, manager, acoustic engineer, or other, we have a place for you in Hartt's woodwind department.

Cello
You will join a tight-knit community of artists who are perfecting their craft. Flute
To enrich pedagogy skills, the Hartt flute studio uses a mentoring system that pairs an undergraduate student with a graduate flutist.  They meet together for a minimum of two hours a week to work in duets, resolve any problems revealed in Techniques Class, and for the chance to do research and get feedback from a partner. This gives the graduate students a chance to develop and refine their teaching techniques before leaving school, while the undergraduates benefit from the additional “one-on-one” help in between lessons and get to know fellow flute students more quickly.

Pairs rotate every 4 weeks so everyone has the opportunity to meet and work together, creating a true collaborative atmosphere in the flute studio. The students are collegial and supportive, each gaining more from these additional opportunities to participate with their peers than they would on their own.

Economics
Our economics program prepares you for a wide variety of careers in governmental and nonprofit organizations, business, law, public administration, and foreign services.

Our economics program is a good match if you want to pursue graduate work in economics, business, public administration, or the law. Our courses are designed to provide you with a strong understanding of the economic aspect of society.
