Communication
In the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program you create advertising, public relations, and social media campaigns for real clients, all while learning how to effectively communicate with different target audiences.

Marketing
The Marketing major includes core business classes, to give you a background in all areas of for-profit companies and nonprofits. Then, delve deeper into the marketing field with more specialized classes. You may also choose a concentration in International Marketing, Marketing Communications, Retailing, and Services Marketing to focus your career path. An internship ties it all together, giving you hands-on experience for your resume and skills to use in your first job.

Music Theory
The Master of Music (MM) degree in music theory is designed to prepare students for a teaching or research career in music theory. Applicants to the program usually have an undergraduate degree in music theory or its equivalent. Graduate music theory majors follow a four-semester curriculum of 36 credits. It includes instruction in modern analysis, Schenkerian analysis, history of music theory, and seminars in music theory and music history. An important feature of the curriculum is the flexibility in elective course work appropriate to the interests and needs of the student.

Music Management
When you decide to major in music management, you have the desire to pursue a strong musical and business course of study.  Playing a musical instrument or being a vocalist is required for entrance to the program. This can include classical instruments or classical voice, jazz instruments or voice, or commercial instruments (bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, or voice.)  

You will receive training in music theory, piano and keyboard, and music history, as well as weekly one hour lessons and coaching sessions with teachers in the performance area.  This combined with arts management and business courses give you the career ready skills to enter the industry.

Not only will you participate in music management events, but you also have the opportunity to participate in many of the large ensembles that make up Hartt’s music training program.

Visual Communication Design
The visual communication design (VCD) program encompasses all visual languages used to communicate, therefore your coursework aims strengthen your skills as a designer. Classes on design theory, methods, and history align with practical work with real clients by the time you reach your senior year.

Designers in this program are able to think critically about how to tell a story using design elements rather than words. You must be able to think not only about how your work looks, but also about how other people will interact with it.

Music Theatre
Hartt’s music theatre major integrates comprehensive actor training with rigorous instruction in singing and dance. Weekly individual voice lessons, along with classes in ear training and music theory, provide you with a strong musical foundation. Multiple levels of ballet, jazz, and tap help you develop the dance skills required for professional success.

Today’s business leaders need to be data-driven and know how to interpret and analyze big data when approaching important strategic decisions.

Our Master of Science in Business Analytics program provides you an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of analytics. You will obtain the strong critical thinking, quantitative, analytical, visualization, and presentation skills necessary to successfully advance your career in the growing "big data" business culture in any organization.

Music Education
Hartt's Music Education Division offers you one of the nation's most comprehensive courses of study. Combining the rigors of conservatory training with a solid foundation in music education, the program prepares you for a career as an elementary and secondary school music educator. In addition to general music, choral music, wind and string instrumental pedagogy, music education majors receive training in such methodologies as Kodály, Suzuki, and Orff.

As an undergraduate, you will pursue a four-year instrumental or vocal emphasis. Students interested in jazz (saxophone, trumpet, and trombone) can pursue a double major in Music Education and Jazz Studies (5-year program). Please note that students interested in this double major must perform a jazz and classical audition because they will receive private instruction in both areas.

Entrepreneurial Studies
This interdisciplinary major gives you a background in many disciplines, including marketing, finance, accounting, and law. You will graduate with understanding of all aspects of business.

Gain hands-on experience by providing resources, training, and support to a local micro-business. You will complete a professional business plan to use to start your own venture. You may also choose to enter our annual Business Plan Competition. Our faculty advisors will help you every step of the way.
