Percussion
Our philosophy regarding percussion education is to be as all-inclusive as possible. As a Hartt student, you will typically study solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire, as well as improvisation, drum-set, and percussion instruments from other cultures (particularly from Africa, the Middle East, Cuba, Brazil, and Trinidad). We routinely hire guest teachers with focused areas of expertise in order to compliment our more traditional offerings. As a result, Hartt percussion alumni have been very successful in finding a variety of jobs throughout the country.

Biomedical Engineering
The biomedical engineering program prepares you to work in today’s healthcare industry and learn how to support professionals, hospitals, and medical offices by creating and maintaining important tools and resources. Discover how to design and build biomedical equipment and devices for diagnosing medical problems and improving health for those in need.

Biomedical engineers speak two languages: that of the engineer and that of the health professional. They understand what is involved in examining people, evaluating their health, and understanding what is available to improve their quality of life. They also comprehend the science and mathematics behind these areas and can evaluate the potential of new devices and methods to improve on current technologies.

Accounting is a professional major that prepares you for entry-level positions in public accounting, management accounting, and financial management.

Students pursuing the aerospace engineering program will develop in-demand skills in the fundamental science and technologies to create, develop, and improve aircraft and spacecraft.

Music Production and Technology
Music production & technology at Hartt trains musicians to become music production professionals (i.e. recording, mixing, and mastering engineers).  Musicianship training has played an essential role for many, if not most, successful producers. Through study in music, electronics and acoustics, you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the professional audio industry.

Drawing and painting are closely linked visual practices, and an understanding of one enriches a maturing practice of the other. A fluid definition of these disciplines underscores our understanding that the contemporary art world is widely interdisciplinary in nature.

As a student in the painting and drawing department, you will develop personally significant ideas that reference painting’s rich history and contribute to its lively contemporary conversation.
