The International Pathway Program (IPP) is your route to a degree from the highly ranked University of Hartford. The IPP is open to students who have proven their academic ability but need to strengthen their English skills to achieve positive results in the collegiate environment. You will learn about the subjects you love, while being able to dedicate time to developing your English.

Instrumental Performance - Flute
To enrich pedagogy skills, the Hartt flute studio uses a mentoring system that pairs an undergraduate student with a graduate flutist.  They meet together for a minimum of two hours a week to work in duets, resolve any problems revealed in Techniques Class, and for the chance to do research and get feedback from a partner. This gives the graduate students a chance to develop and refine their teaching techniques before leaving school, while the undergraduates benefit from the additional “one-on-one” help in between lessons and get to know fellow flute students more quickly.

Sculpture
Students in the sculpture sculpture explore a wide range of approaches to sculpture production. Our program recognizes the broad diversity of styles, techniques, and independent conceptual visions that define the field of contemporary sculpture.

Mechanical Engineering

This diverse program encompasses key aspects of engineering that deal with the application of mechanics to the design of machines. Pursue careers in industries such as automotive, aerospace, or power-generation, as well as those focused on noise control, mechatronics, and biomedical applications. Select one of six concentrations to expand your knowledge in a niche area to bring to the field, including acoustics, computational, energy engineering and sustainability, manufacturing, robotics, and turbomachinery are available.

Health Sciences - Pre-Professional

The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. You can pursue the degree on a full- or part-time basis, and you can enter the program as a freshman or a transfer student.The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. The program combines a strong science foundation with a variety of electives that allow you to explore different health-related topics. If you’re interested in a career in health care but aren’t sure which area to pursue, the Health Sciences program may be a good fit for you. Health Sciences is also available as a minor.

Our health sciences program grounds you in the liberal arts with a firm foundation in the sciences, while providing a broad overview of the health care system. By majoring in health sciences, you can prepare for future study in a wide range of health care careers.

Art History
The art history Bachelor of Arts program offers students a wide variety of courses that cover art from around the globe—Western, African, Mesoamerican, and Asian—and creative traditions in painting, sculpture, graphic arts, decorative arts, ritual objects, architecture, photography, design, performance, experimental media, and eco-art.

Special courses in museum and exhibition practices, in writing and research, and in the effects of cultural contact, migrations, and globalization on artistic traditions are offered to art history majors. Students are urged to study abroad and often take advantage of programs in Europe, Africa, Australia, and elsewhere around the globe.

Music Education: Kodaly
Kodály pedagogy at Hartt is built upon and derived from the most recent music education and child development research. A new curriculum reflects characteristics of American folk music literature. Hartt's Kodály program is committed to the finest quality children's music literature and masterwork literature. Students transferring from other Kodály programs should receive prior approval from the program's director.

Chemistry

UHart’s Chemistry Department offers major programs designed to give you a thorough foundation in all areas of chemistry, and is a great place to study if you are planning for a career in chemistry, biochemistry, the medical profession, environmental law, forensics, food science, chemical physics, or any other related discipline.

If you have a special interest in chemistry, but intend to pursue a career in a related fields as medicine, dentistry, education, business, or law, you will want to consider our Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.

If you love math and want to teach, you can work in a classroom your very first semester. We have two magnet schools located on campus, so you can hone your teaching skills at both the elementary and secondary levels. These experiences will lead to:

The Hartt trumpet studio is a tight-knit community of artists who will inspire you, guide you, and share a musical journey with you.

Weekly lessons, master classes, brass repertoire class, special seminars and guest artists, are all part of the equation here at Hartt to make you become the player you want to become. You can accomplish so much, and at Hartt, you will keep getting better.

Double Bass
At The Hartt School, you will join a tight-knit community of artists who are perfecting their craft. Through personal attention and mentorship from Hartt’s accomplished faculty members, you will develop innovative ideas and career ready skills. Learn about the double bass program at Hartt, including undergraduate and graduate admission and audition requirements and faculty information.

Double bass activities include

• Weekly private lessons (technical and musical development of traditional and contemporary techniques and repertoire, and orchestral music)
• Orchestra Repertoire Class (excerpts and the audition process)
• Scales/Technique Class (compliments the work done in private lessons on achieving technical mastery)
• Repertoire Class (explores all aspects of the double bass literature and history, by listening to recordings, looking at scores, and discussing various topics)
