The International Pathway Program (IPP) is your route to a degree from the highly ranked University of Hartford. With our program, you will develop the skills to progress to the undergraduate degree of your choice – and graduate on time. The IPP is open to students who have proven their academic ability but need to strengthen their English skills to achieve positive results in the collegiate environment. You will learn about the subjects you love, while being able to dedicate time to developing your English. 

Communication
In the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program you create advertising, public relations, and social media campaigns for real clients, all while learning how to effectively communicate with different target audiences.

Digital Media and Journalism
Our digital media and journalism degree prepares you for a career in digital media production, broadcast journalism, sports media, or as a media business professional. Using a combination of real-world and classroom experience, you build a strong portfolio through internships and by working in one or more of our media-oriented student firms

Computer Science and Engineering
The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program provides a solid foundation in computer engineering combined with a strong groundwork in software design and development. Our program will give you a thorough understanding of how software is synthesized with hardware, giving you a complete understanding of how a computer works. This strong foundation prepares you to address any computing system challenge across the software-hardware spectrum. In addition, our expert faculty support you with one-on-one instruction and academic advising.

Offering a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music, the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz was founded by American jazz saxophonist Jackie McLean. As one of the nation’s premier jazz programs, Hartt strives to develop aspiring and skilled jazz musicians.

Through the curriculum, there is historical analysis, perspective, narratives on improvisation, and dialogue concerning the expression of jazz music.  Using these practices along with tutelage and cultivation, students will realize their choices to create an individual style.

Hartt students perform both on and off campus and have opportunities to perform and interact with internationally recognized jazz musicians in our Visiting Artist Series.

Electrical Engineering
The electrical engineering program covers a branch of engineering concerned with generating, distributing, processing, coding, transmitting, receiving, and deciphering electrical and electromagnetic signals.

Electrical engineering involves the study and application of electricity and electronics. It consists of a wide range of fields including electronic circuits, digital computing, robotics, sensors and instrumentation, electrical power, telecommunications, photonics, control systems, wireless communications, signal processing, and integrated circuits. BSEE graduates may obtain a professional license as a professional engineer (PE).

Harp
Harp Ensemble, Repertoire and Studio Class and Harp Teaching Principles are just a few of the courses that harpists at Hartt partake in and enjoy. Orchestral and solo opportunities are many at Hartt, with monthly opportunities to perform solos or chamber music in the Evening with Guitar and Harp concert series. Hartt harpists are encouraged to partake in as many performance, competition and growth opportunities as possible, both in school, and in the vibrant capital region of Hartford.

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in civil engineering program emphasizes applied design, fundamental coursework, and development of key communication skills to meet today's industry demands and advance your career.

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in civil engineering program emphasizes applied design and stresses the development of oral, visual, and written communication skills in civil engineering to enable individuals to advance in their careers. Discover new knowledge in design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment. Have the flexibility to take research project-based courses through one of three tracks offered based on your interests. You may concentrate your studies in civil engineering, structural engineering, or transportation engineering by selecting appropriate courses available.

Biology
If you are planning a career in research or plan to go on to graduate, medical, dental school then the Bachelor of Science in Biology program is recommended for you.
The curriculum includes a broad approach to biology and offers a comprehensive background in mathematics and the natural sciences.

Illustration
Its rigors emphasize conceptual problem-solving, technical expertise, meeting deadlines, and other professional practices. We stress drawing knowledge and skill as the basis for all visual conceptualization. This is applied to both traditional and digital mediums.

We’ll sharpen your professional standards through sophomore and junior reviews. Our program prepares you to work at a professional level, with a comprehensive understanding of illustration and the ability to merge your client’s needs with your personal style.

Cinema
You have the opportunity to study film as a literary art form and learn production skills to create your own movie.   Here you can take advantage of opportunities to study film during a semester abroad or get additional experience through an internship at a production company in Connecticut, New York, or Boston.

Our alumni have gone to work at television networks and film production companies as directors, producers, and as directors of international film festivals.
