Exercise Science
The Exercise Science program combines classroom, laboratory and internship experiences that will give you a comprehensive understanding of physical health, fitness and human performance. You will learn how to recognize and assess metabolic/physical, cardiovascular and pulmonary functions, and design and implement treatment plans for clients that improve their physical fitness and health.

You’ll also participate in internships designed to promote career readiness or preparation for graduate education in areas such as sports medicine, strength and conditioning, personal training and clinical research. As a UHart student, you’ll have opportunities to work with the University’s Division I athletic teams in these internships.

The Master of Science (MS) in environmental engineering program emphasizes research-oriented courses for you to gain new skills and knowledge to meet today's industry demands and advance your career.

The Master of Science (MS) in environmental engineering program is a research-oriented program that focuses on the advancement of the fundamental body of knowledge in environmental engineering while also fostering the development of skills in design and analysis. This program lets you study an area of interest as part of a graduate thesis. Work towards solving a contemporary problem and become a technical expert. This program is also ideal for those who endeavor to eventually pursue their doctoral degree in an area within engineering. You will be ready to conduct research more analytically and purposefully in the industry and in academia.

Flute
To enrich pedagogy skills, the Hartt flute studio uses a mentoring system that pairs an undergraduate student with a graduate flutist.  They meet together for a minimum of two hours a week to work in duets, resolve any problems revealed in Techniques Class, and for the chance to do research and get feedback from a partner. This gives the graduate students a chance to develop and refine their teaching techniques before leaving school, while the undergraduates benefit from the additional “one-on-one” help in between lessons and get to know fellow flute students more quickly.

Pairs rotate every 4 weeks so everyone has the opportunity to meet and work together, creating a true collaborative atmosphere in the flute studio. The students are collegial and supportive, each gaining more from these additional opportunities to participate with their peers than they would on their own.

Acoustical Engineering and Music
The mission of the acoustical engineering and music program is to provide excellent educational experience for its students, with an emphasis on preparing graduates for professional practice in engineering and/or graduate school.

Politics and Government
If you are planning a career in law, government, the civil services, politics, journalism, or the nonprofit sector, or policy analysis, our politics and government program gives you the opportunity to explore your interests and get hands-on experience before you graduate.
Politics and government is the study of policy, government, and law giving you an understanding about the processes by which power, authority, influence, control, freedom, wealth, and other political resources are competitively pursued, captured, and distributed. You also study how these become public policies, part of government, and the law.

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program focuses on the applications of mathematics to the sciences and is a great fit for you if you are interested in graduate work in mathematics or a career in engineering, mathematics, or science.

Percussion
Our philosophy regarding percussion education is to be as all-inclusive as possible. As a Hartt student, you will typically study solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire, as well as improvisation, drum-set, and percussion instruments from other cultures (particularly from Africa, the Middle East, Cuba, Brazil, and Trinidad). We routinely hire guest teachers with focused areas of expertise in order to compliment our more traditional offerings. As a result, Hartt percussion alumni have been very successful in finding a variety of jobs throughout the country.

Music
A diverse range of courses in the humanities and sciences are geared toward developing the student's intellectual skills by emphasizing written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and the importance of being an informed, socially responsible citizen of the world.

Painting and Drawing
Drawing and painting are closely linked visual practices, and an understanding of one enriches a maturing practice of the other. A fluid definition of these disciplines underscores our understanding that the contemporary art world is widely interdisciplinary in nature.

As a student in the painting and drawing department, you will develop personally significant ideas that reference painting’s rich history and contribute to its lively contemporary conversation.

You will participate in a curriculum designed to provide your emerging individual voice with the technical and conceptual grounding necessary for effective expression.

Judaic Studies

Judaic studies is an interdisciplinary program of study which focuses on the Jews and Judaism, including but not limited to, historical, linguistic, religious, sociological, political, and philosophical perspectives. Our program spans the periods from the beginnings of ancient Israel through the modern Jews and modern Israel. If you have no previous experience with Hebrew language, you are required to complete 42 credits including three required, core courses in Jewish history (9 credits) and two years of modern Hebrew (12 credits). The modern Hebrew requirement may be waived for students who demonstrate equivalent fluency.
